RAVNA GORA: Monument to Čiča
A plaque and a monument to the Chetnik leader Draža Mihailović were erected during the nineties on Ravna Gora, which marked the first step towards the revival of the Ravno Gora movement. As a punishment for all one-party interpretations of history from 1941 onwards, as an expression of the frustration of the vanquished or the escalation of nationalism, only at the end of the XNUMXth century in Serbia did the extreme awakening of the Chetniks and their, again, one-sided interpretation of history take place. According to this interpretation, as time has shown, even Ravna gora should not have remained the only memorial to General Draža.
When the people of Ivanjica first asked their city authorities to erect a monument to their Chetnik leader in the city center, the birthplace of Draža Mihailović, the socialists retorted that they could only dream about it. At the end of April 2003, on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the birth of Mihailović, his monument was unveiled in Ivanjica. 2,3 meters high and placed in the park in front of the former Kušić-han building, now converted into "Cičin dom". Today, the center of Ivanjica consists of a monument to Draža Mihailović, the Museum of the Ravnogorsk Movement and a memorial fountain.
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Mihailović's execution, in 2006, a 4,6-meter-high monument to Čiča was unveiled on General Draža Square in Lapovo. For his construction of the diaspora in America, she collected about 5000 dollars, and the funds were also provided by the Ministry of Diaspora, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Services.
After 2000, in the Republic of Srpska, a monument to Draža Mihailović also appeared in Petrovo na Ozren, and in Udrulje (today it is referred to as Draževina) near Višegrad, and a whole memorial complex. In Draževina, where Draža was captured, "the famous" monument from Brčko was erected, which was destroyed there, and eventually banned by law because it "insulted other peoples of the District".
