The famous Serbian photographer Tomislav Peternek died at the age of 91 in Belgrade. He was the holder of the highest titles in the profession and the winner of several domestic and international awards, and his photos were published in the most important world newspapers.
Tomislav Peternek was born in 1933 in Vinkovci, and has been engaged in photography since 1954. From 1970, he was the photo editor of the Belgrade weekly NIN, and he remained in that position until his retirement in 1993.
Peternek took photographs for various world media, and in addition, he was accredited by the Ministry of Information of Yugoslavia as a correspondent for major photo agencies, including Reuters, Eastlight, Kontrast, UNICEF, Korbi Sigma and others.
He was also involved in applied photography, advertising, fashion and underwater photography, and he lived and worked in Belgrade.
