"When a member of the Government of Serbia sends anti-EU messages during an official visit to Moscow, everyone in Europe notices," said Vladimir Bilčik, the rapporteur of the European Parliament for Serbia, on the occasion of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the technical mandate of Alexander Vulin to Moscow.
Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandar Vulin is visiting Moscow, and on Monday, August 22, at a meeting with the head of Russian diplomacy, Sergey Lavrov, he said that Serbia is the only country in Europe that has not imposed sanctions on Russia and that has not become part of the anti-Russian hysteria.
"I say and think the same in Moscow as I say and think in Belgrade and Brussels, and I will not give up the right to defend my beliefs and the truth about Serbia, but also the Serbs and the Serbian world, regardless of the political and personal price I pay and which I will pay," said Minister Aleksandar Vulin regarding Bilcik's criticism
Official Belgrade neither reacted nor commented on Alexander Vulin's visit to Moscow, nor his statement about anti-Russian hysteria.
The EP rapporteur for Serbia stated that any progress of Serbia on the European path can only be based on a true and consistent commitment to European principles, values and policies.
"This includes aligning its foreign and security policy with that of the European Union - in a progressive manner and with a genuine interest in making policy decisions that reflect future alignment." "Serbia's compliance was and remains the lowest in the region," emphasized Bilčik.
At this moment, this alignment implies the introduction of sanctions against Russia as well as the normalization of relations with Kosovo, on which the speed of accession directly depends
Union.
"Full compliance with the EU's foreign, security and defense policy, including sanctions against Russia, as well as the normalization of Serbia's relations with Kosovo, will determine the pace of EU accession," said Bilcik.
He recalled that the European Parliament sent a "consistent" message in its latest report on Serbia, for the year 2021, which was adopted last month in Strasbourg, "by an overwhelming majority," as Bilcik emphasized.
