The higher public prosecutor's office announced, as it was announced, the spread of false news on social networks regarding the death of a twenty-two-year-old young man. As they stated, they make an exception in their behavior and inform the public that the cause of death of this young man is suicide.
"PS Voždovac last night (July 2) at around 20:20 p.m. informed the on-duty public prosecutor VJT in Belgrade about the death that occurred at the Emergency Center, after on June 29, 2025, the mentioned young man jumped out of the window of the apartment on the 5th floor where he lives. According to the information received, the person announced that he would perform this act," the statement reads.
He adds that by the decision of the public prosecutor on duty, the person was exempted from performing an autopsy, because there was no doubt about the circumstances of the death, and his mother did not request an autopsy either.
"The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade expresses its deepest regret for the tragedy that befell the family of a twenty-two-year-old young man with sincere condolences. The persons who spread false news about the death of this young man will be identified in the direction of prosecution for the criminal offense of causing panic and disorder. We appeal to citizens to refrain from spreading unverified and inaccurate information," the statement concludes.
