A degree less was measured in Leskovac, Kraljevo, Sombor, Novi Sad, Kruševac and Veliki Gradište. It measured 38 degrees in Zrenjanin, Kikinda, Sremska Mitrovica, Belgrade, Kragujevac, Smederevska Palanka and Kuršumli.
The most pleasant was in Sjenica - 22 degrees, Kopaonik - 23 and Zlatibor - 30 degrees.
Electricity consumption
The consequences of the great heat were also reflected on electroenergy system in Serbia.
Namely, electricity consumption is about 30 percent higher than in the same period last year, with the assessment that the power system is stable.
The Acting Director of Electric Distribution of Serbia, Biljana Komnenić, stated in Kraljevo, during a tour of the substation revision works, that the power facilities are functioning well despite the fact that average temperatures are fifteen degrees higher than in the same period in 2023.
Our car navigation failed due to the high heat, so I am even more pleased that our substations, which also have sensitive equipment, show reliability even in these tropical days. Regardless, the teams are ready to react if there is a need for it, Komnenic said.
24 fires in 135 hours
In the previous 24 hours, 135 fires in open spaces were recorded in Serbia, the Ministry of the Interior announced.
416 firefighters-rescuers with 180 vehicles, seven members of the Helicopter Unit of the MUP, as well as 15 members of specialized civil protection units for firefighting and a large number of members of voluntary fire brigades, foresters and locals were engaged. Due to the work of members of the Department for Emergency Situations (SVS), major fires on the territory of the Pčinj district in the towns of Dobrosin, Sebrat and Brnjare, as well as in the Nišava district in the settlement "9. May" were extinguished.
Fires in open space in Borjanice, Priboj municipality, Rastovac, Kosjerić municipality, Crnoklište, Pirot town, in Beočin, in the village of Mosna, Majdanpek-Donji Milanovac municipality, Zlot village near Bor and Neresnica, Kučevo municipality, have been localized and are being extinguished.
Due to the inaccessible terrain, geographical configuration and variable wind direction and intensity, in the place of Gonje, municipality of Sjenica, where about 100 hectares of conifer forest are burning, in addition to members of the SVS, the Helicopter Unit with the helicopter "Super puma" was engaged, which released about 52 tons since this morning water on the burnt surface.
