Democratic Party (DS) she condemned on Tuesday police intrusion into non-governmental organizations, stating that it is about dealing with critics of the regime and called for the formation of a wider front of organizations and individuals in order to address the "escalation of violence".
The Democratic Party stated in a statement that the fight against corruption is being used as a "smoke screen" to deal with critics of the regime, which it sees as a "marketing action by the government."
"We believe that it is necessary to respond to this new escalation of violence by forming a wider front of organizations and individuals who must put aside all differences and find a way to act together, organized and synchronized in order to restore the rule of law, respect for human rights and freedoms and constitutional guarantees for all citizens of Serbia", it was stated.
According to DS's opinion, it is no coincidence that the target of this "revenge attack" is Crta and the Citizens' Initiative, which publicly refused to cooperate with the regime and argued and principledly sided with the citizens in the protests, exposing the government's corruption.
"At the same time, there is no check on the spending of USAID funds that were aimed at helping the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), even though it is known that the SNS was the largest beneficiary of USAID funds intended for political organizations in Serbia," DS stated.
Democrats add that there is no verification of the huge funds that were directed to state institutions, including the Republican Election Commission, the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, the Parliament of Serbia, the Ministry of Justice and numerous local governments, on which more than 95 percent of the funds of the American Agency for International Development (USAID) in Serbia were spent.
"Additional irony is that the alleged audit of USAID funds is initiated by the regime that appointed Ana Brnabić as the head of the government and Parliament, who was, as she points out, the founder and president of the board of the NGO NALED, whose establishment was funded by USAID," DS pointed out.
