Days of Family, a manifestation on the occasion of May 15 International Family Day, has been postponed for a month, due to the victims of two mass murders at the beginning of the month, Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Šapić said yesterday.
He reminded that this manifestation was announced last September, when the Pride Parade was held in Belgrade.
More precisely, the decision was made after his meeting with Patriarch Porfiry.
As he announced at the time, the goal of the event is to show not only things related to "the family, but also the broader context of unity in our nation, as well as traditional values."
Šapić then also said that his obligation, as mayor, is to have intensive and good cooperation with the Serbian Orthodox Church and His Holiness, and added that as long as he is in that position, they can count on the City in every form of cooperation and communication. .
Yesterday, announcing the postponement of Family Day, Šapić said that "the idea is to close the entire city center", and added that during the two-day duration of the event, "sixty small events" will be held, and that everything should start with a collective wedding.
Šapić said that he expects the presence of 100.000 people, as well as that it will "become a traditional manifestation".

In the context of caring for the family, today a video appeared on social networks in which Patriarch Porfirius, talking about "sensitive language", says:
"I would cry, I would scream in agony, when I see a poor woman who changes her thesis, then says 'why didn't they take care of women, women are endangered', so they are endangered, we are all endangered by you, poor one".
"Deeply humiliating and disturbing words that appeared in the public space, which call women wretched and poor, especially because they are spoken by the patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church," was the reaction of the commissioner for the protection of equality, Brankica Janković, regarding the aforementioned video.
"In days of sadness and pain, and when we count the 18th woman as a victim of domestic violence, and while women are exposed to various forms of discrimination, violence and aggression, the least that is expected of all of us is to be aware of the weight and responsibility for the words spoken," says the commissioner in a post on the Facebook social network.
PSG president Pavle Grbović stated on Twitter that he "doesn't believe what he hears, much less understands."
"A vocabulary that does not suit anyone, least of all the patriarch." Especially in a country swept by a wave of femicide. At the same time, I don't understand how a woman can be poor and wretched, but it is a crime when she asks to be a psychologist or a dramaturg," said Grbović.
"Your Holiness, let me remind you once again that in the last 15 years, 350 women have been killed in partner/family violence, just because they are women, and hundreds of children have been left motherless... Or should I remind you that since the beginning of the year, 4,5 women have been killed in 18 months - is that a signal for unification? Or are we going to use hate speech to encourage bullies that they are God-given to take the lives of women?!??", wrote Zorana Mihajlović, former vice-president of the Serbian Progressive Party.
According to her, it is "sad" that anyone speaks in such a way, especially when something like that comes from the mouth of the patriarch, because his responsibility is "great, and the shame is immeasurable".
"Hello" went to defend the patriarch from Zorana Mihajlović and the "tycoon media".
