New Irish scene - "Madra Salach", "The Scratch" and "Dove Ellis"

The boys are back in town.

Heroism and vulnerability, a rebel cry and oneiric asceticism, memories of the glory days, but also the current feeling of constraint, self-confidence and frustration, today in Ireland as burning topics overflow with rock stage on stage infected folk music. The vivid compositions "Madra Salach" and "The Scratch", or the miracle of the young man Dav Ellis, open up themes of pain and endurance, completely denying that Joyce's remark about the cracked mirror of the maid as a symbol of Irish art.

A biography of persistence and consistency

The election of a new president of Ireland comes at a time when anti-immigrant and nationalist forces are strengthening in many European countries, and the political center is increasingly moving to the right under the pretext of security and "realpolitik", while the space for the open left seems increasingly narrow. She is a socialist, critical of NATO and Israeli policy, and links social justice in Ireland to solidarity with Palestine, which seems like a rare, encouraging message in a European landscape that is rapidly shifting to the right.

Concert: "Fontaines DC" in Port of Belgrade

Fire of pure energy

The Irish band "Fontaines DC" comes to us from a country with an obvious excess of history and culture, so we understand each other very well. When the singer Grian Chaten at one point discreetly shouts from the stage: "Free Palestine!", our young audience readily responds with loud approval and a swirl of Palestinian headscarves, which many proudly wear around their necks. But this is not really a demonstration of political activism at all, as one might think. Just a little reminder of how great it is when these great new stars at the peak of their careers come to town and share with you the joy of the extraordinary music they have created themselves, as well as their authentic human conviction against the orchestrated everyday life all around

In memoriam: Shane MacGowan (1957–2023)

07.December 2023 Dragan Ambrozic

Irish, punk, loser, genius

Shane's broken physical form was a protest against the falsity of this civilization built on profits, of which we are all victims, a living demonstration of how a normal man can overcome these adversities on his feet only by turning into a ruin. He chose to do it the way great poets have always done - putting a sign of equality between his life, his words, his music and his behavior off the stage

Sinead O'Connor has passed away

An angelic voice, a beautiful face, "Nothing Compares 2 U", a torn photo of the Pope, a Grammy Award, Ireland - these are the details that remain behind the great singer
