And in Čačak, the 32nd edition of the Nadežda Petrović Memorial was named Sonja S. Memorial The name refers to two important women born in Čačak, key artists in their field in the history of Yugoslavia - Nadežda Petrović, who is one of the most important expressionists, impressionists and fauvists from the region, and the legendary actress Sonja Savić. Both were not only exceptional artists, but also socially active women and feminists.
The selector of the exhibition is the prominent curator and art historian Zdenka Badovinac from Slovenia. The concept of the exhibition is based "on the idea of the artist as someone who challenges the generally accepted rules of social, gender, class and geopolitical roles, even roles that go beyond mere human relations and penetrate into the field of interspecies relations."
Zdenka Badovinac explains that "the mention of two heroines in the title of the exhibition in itself suggests a feminist approach to its concept", explains Zdenka Badovinac. "In our case, feminist criticism serves not only to present specific conditions for women, but also as a means of connecting different minor positions. We still have the habit of talking about the role of women in society, in war, in healthcare, etc., but we never talk about the role of men in society, in war, in healthcare, each time emphasizing the specificity of women's identity, while the role of men very often remains universal. "
Works at the exhibition Sonja S. Memorial "they deal with different working conditions and cultural production." As for gender roles, the artists represented are interested in the position of women and queer people in certain historical situations. In terms of species, the exhibition will follow post-humanist attitudes, and in the light of geopolitical roles, different minor positions of people and their countries", explained Badovinac.
In the selection of Zdenka Badovinac, at the 32nd MNP, the following are participating: Sanja Anđelković, Nika Autor, Sezgin Boynik and Tevfik Rada, Bozena Končić Badurina, Mahdi Baraghithi, Željko Beljan, Ephemerne Konfesije, Đejmi Hadrović, Hristina Ivanoska, Anton Kats, Dejan Marković, Gregor Mobius , Nadežda Petrović, Elvisey Pisica, Darinka Pop-Mitić, Walid Raad, Milica Rakić, Rena Rädle and Vladan Jeremić, Driton Selmani, Maja Smrekar, Bojan Stojčić, Andrej Škufca, Jelena Vesić, Vocal Curator Syndrome (VKS), Natalija Vujošević, Neja Tomšić and Tara Langford.
