It was Friday, November 1, the weather was partly cloudy with a maximum of 17 degrees, and then it suddenly became cloudy over the whole of Serbia at 11:52, when it fell canopy Railway stations in Novi Sad.
The fall of the canopy became the main news and topic in the media, the public discourse soon expanded to protests and political crisis. It is still the same today, one year after the deadly collapse of a reinforced concrete structure that killed 16 people, for which no one has yet been held responsible.
Even before the tragedy, Serbia was at a dead end, as evidenced by the headlines in the daily newspapers on that first November morning in 2024.
What was written in the daily newspaper on November 1, 2024?

No one can imagine what kind of tragedy will happen and what it will bring to Serbia in the coming period, and the daily newspapers of that day deal with the split in the Socialist Party of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolić's return to Andrićev venac, the Belgrade-Subotica railway, the protests of educators, the Jadar project, the price of coffee, and "Informer" was also running a campaign against the opposition.
Politics
A split within Socialist Party of Serbia was the theme of that November 1st. So "Informer", for example, with portraits of Ivica Dačić and Branko Ružić, wrote about the crisis in this party with the words "His party is on fire, but he is combing his hair" and with the fact that Dačić is silent on the fact that Ružić "called for the overthrow of the state on the tycoon television N1".

A Cedomir Jovanovic, according to the media, he left the hospital crying and in a wheelchair after the operation.
Society
The school year went on as usual until that day - with standard protests and strikes by some of the education workers.
Newspapers wrote about the increase in violence in schools, and protests were announced that day educational workers, but also farmers, and the topic was also protests against mining of lithium.

It was also announced that the next day the Old Sava bridge would be closed, and the opening of the Belgrade-Subotica high-speed railway was also announced.
The bridge has since been removed, and the first train on the route Belgrade – Subotica passed at the beginning of October this year.
Economy
Pensioners in Serbia, even a year ago, they did not live well compared to their peers from Slovenia and Croatia, and "Nova" published an article comparing the amounts of pensions in the three countries.
It was also written about how much Serbs invest in real estate, and the tabloids put the story on the front pages about how the Croatian "Merkator" is robbing Serbia, and that coffee will be twice as expensive because of the "Croatian tycoon".
The topic was also the large migration of workers - that Serbs are increasingly flocking to the United States of America, while workers from India are immigrating here.

Among the news from the region and the world, the search for the murderer Alija Balijagić, who is in the village of Sokolac in Montenegro committed a double murder and was on the run.
Testimonies about the floods in Valencia were also highlighted, as well as the story that Kim Jong Un's generals arrived in Russia, and that Donald Trump came to the rally in Wisconsin in a garbage truck.
