At today's meeting in the Government of Serbia, an agreement was reached with the representatives of the workers of the Post of Serbia who are on strike, and the agreement, which foresees that the suspension of work will be ended by 12 o'clock tomorrow, was signed by Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and union representatives.
However, some postmen claim that the strike continues.
"The suspension is not interrupted, because we are not represented by unions, especially not by those who have never been guided by the rights for the betterment of workers, but by personal interests," said Stefan Mitrović for N1.
He points out that three of the six unions attended the meeting, while three unions - Sloga, Solidarity and the Independent Union of Postal Workers - refused the meeting.
"This is a self-organized suspension of work by the employees, we are not represented by any union, we do not want to talk to individuals behind closed doors." Workers who have had negative experiences with such negotiations from 2019 do not want anyone to be compromised or intimidated," explains Mitrović.
In the announcement of the Government, it is written that the payment of a one-time aid to all workers, except for the management, in the amount of 20.000 dinars no later than November 25, and a salary increase from November 1 to all employees in technology in the amount of 10 percent was agreed.
In addition, technology workers will receive an additional 10 percent pay increase on January 1 next year, making for a cumulative 21 percent pay increase over current earnings. It was also agreed to increase the salary of all employees in the administration, except for the management, by 10 percent from January 1, 2024.
At the meeting, an agreement was reached that due to the illegal suspension of work, no worker will be sanctioned who ends the strike by 12 noon tomorrow. Non-sanctioning includes the payment of part of the salary during the suspension of work, which will be paid with the next salary, together with travel expenses.
In addition, the Government agrees with the admission of new workers in technology and a mandatory six-monthly meeting with the highest management of the Government of Serbia on operations, results and the working atmosphere at the Post of Serbia has been established.
"What they are offering is far from what is requested," Stefan Mitrović pointed out.
