"We entered the police station of Majske Jevrosima, seven of us. We sat on the floor and refuse to leave it until they release Željko Latas," wrote Savo Manojlović, the leader of the X movement, on the network.
Activists of the Kreni-promeni movement, the Most Remains initiative, as well as the citizens of New Belgrade, gathered on Tuesday at 19 p.m. in front of the police station in Mother Jevrosime Street due to the arrest of the Kreni-Promeni councilor Željko Latas.
"Either arrest us or let Željko go. We will offer passive resistance and will not enter into a conflict with the police. There are several hundred people in front of us, we urge them not to make incidents," added Manojlović.
In the statement, they state that Željko Latas "filmed today in Pionirski Park how that park, which is a cultural and natural asset, was turned into a landfill. On that occasion, he was attacked by five people led by Miloš Pavlović. After that, President Vučić announced that Pavlović was attacked by Kreni-Promeni councilor with fists and pepper spray, which the published videos completely deny."
Ministry of the Interior announced that Ž. L. (55), a member of the Kreni-Promeni movement, was detained on suspicion that he physically attacked Miloš Pavlović and two other people in Pionirski Park on Tuesday and that he allegedly sprayed them with pepper spray.
The make-up shows a man in a red jacket saying something to four people while a woman films them. At one point, one of the four tries to grab the hand of the man in the red jacket who is slipping away and sprays him with something.
However, the video clearly shows that someone else was sprayed, not Pavlović.
The woman then leaves, and the group of four men is joined by two others and all of them together without physical contact follow the man in the red jacket who is eventually approached by a policeman and taken aside.
The video does not show that anyone hit anyone.
A video from the ambulance was also published, showing Pavlović lying on a stretcher, coughing and asking the man next to him, who was rubbing his eyes, if he was okay.
Before the regime media showed Pavlović lying in an ambulance, and after the alleged attack, Pavlović was very active without any injury and was walking around Pionirski Park.
N1 journalist Maja Nikolić posted on her X network account that Health Minister Zlatibor Lončar says that Pavlović and two of his colleagues are "in resuscitation".
"Zlatibor Lončar says that student Miloš and two of his colleagues are in resuscitation?"
Pink says that Miloš seems to have a broken jaw, he also complains of pain in his spine and kidneys, because he received a series of blows to the back. And yes, none of these three can see through pepper spray. Is there a recording?" Nikolić wrote.
Protest in front of the police station
After entering the police station, Manojlović wrote on the social network that they had given the police six hours to release Latas and that he would not leave the station until then.
After the entry of Manojlović and his colleagues, a police cordon was set up in front of the station, which no longer allows anyone to enter.
The rally began with chants and shouts of "Let Željka go to us", and Manojlović told those who are judging Latas today that they will be judged tomorrow.
Manojlovic claims that Latas is a victim and that he was defending himself from "five ćaci", which is why, as he stated, a complaint was filed against the decision to detain him for 48 hours.
He also stated that one of the people who attacked Latas is from the criminal milieu and that it will soon be revealed who it is.
He called on citizens not to fall for "Ćaciland", which exists to divert attention from, as he said, the magnificent struggle of citizens.
Manojlović also assessed that because of the several hundred people who gathered in front of the police station in Majke Jevrosima, Latas is still freer than the people in "Ćaciland".
The case of police officer Baćić
That alleged attack on Pavlović and what followed reminded of the spin of the regime media in the case of plainclothes policeman Lazar Baćić, whom the government claims was injured by students.
Baćić was apparently hit by a uniformed member of the Gendarmerie in front of the building of the Radio and Television of Serbia, according to the video that was published, and Baćić confirmed this in an informal telephone conversation with the wife of his former colleague from the police and a "compatriot" from Loznica, Slobodan Pajić.
However, Baćić soon changed his mind and stated in a video from the hospital that his words were "taken out of context" and that the conversation was "abused, and that at a time when he was in a post-operative state and suffering severe pain".
