Dragan Djilas is Aleksandar Šapić introduced into politics as his own deputy, when he was mayor. Now a former political colleague, Đilas claims, is threatening him when he finds himself in the mayor's chair.
"Now listen to me carefully, you bitch," says the message that Djilas published. "For this, I will personally eat everything on the list, you crossed the border. I said that the drunk and drugged man who killed three people with a car was not guilty, hey! I swear on my life that because of this, when I get out of everything, I will eat everything on the list. I will find you personally, when you least expect it."
In the message published by Đilas, it is added that he is free to go to the police to report this threat, and that Šapić will confirm that he sent it.
Šapić did not answer whether the message was credible. Based on the video below the message, the capital's mayor allegedly commented on Đilas' podcast "The Culprit on Duty", in which he mentioned the traffic accident in New Belgrade in which three people died because the driver of the neighboring car was under the influence of alcohol and drugs and turned on a red light.
Who is to blame for a traffic accident?
"We have a mayor who says that the death of three people is not the fault of an idiot who drove 150 mph while drunk and drugged and then hit a car that was running on green. So, it is not his fault, but the problem is that he is allowed to turn left at the intersection," said Dragan Đilas in the podcast.
He alluded to Šapić's statement after this accident, when he announced that left turns will be abolished in the city wherever possible, in order to increase traffic flow and safety.
"We are trying to do what is normally a tendency all over the world, which is those turns to the left. If it hadn't been for that unfortunate turn to the left, let's say in Heroja from Košar, probably three people would be alive today," Šapić said, referring to this accident. "Of course, there are intersections where you cannot cancel that left turn, but we will try wherever we can - firstly because they are safer, secondly, let's not talk about the fact that there was a roundabout there (in Heroja sa Košar), for example, then they wouldn't be able to drive 150 per hour."
