The president of the Independent Union of Educators of Serbia, Dušan Kokot, said today that the strike of educators on September 1, although there are reasons for holding it, would not produce a good result, but that it is time for educators to take to the streets and express their dissatisfaction, not only with the state of education , but also to society as a whole.
Kokot stated that what is happening in education is a picture of everything that is happening in society, that the government is still of the opinion that "the system has not failed" and that there are no government officials responsible for the problems, which is why he expects to continue behave unchanged.
Regarding the measures taken to improve safety in schools, Kokot said that the education system cannot be seen as a stadium stand, where problems are solved by sending the police.
Kokot told Nova S Television that the talk about professional support was late, because the school year starts in 10 days, and there is still no competition for hiring additional psychologists and pedagogues. Kokot told parents to think about the messages that teachers send when they say that they can no longer guarantee the safety of themselves, let alone their children, and how everything is going in the wrong direction.
