The participants of the protest for the defense against the demolition of the old Sava Bridge peacefully chased away a group of provocateurs, who came to intervene and propose disbanding the protest or concrete solutions, around 16:45 p.m.
There were three men and one woman in the group, they came together, and two of them started looking for "action", which is why they entered into a verbal conflict with the participants of the protest, trying to attribute to them that they want to attack the police. The participants of the protest calmly asked them to move away and not to violate the dignity of the gathering, but they continued to fight.
The situation was resolved by MP Đorđe Miketić, the informal leader of the protest, who asked the participants to turn their backs on the provocateurs and not argue with them, and reiterated that no one should attack the police, because that is not the goal of the protest. After that, the group moved away from the protest.
Members of the SSP, Mila Popović and Marinika Tepić, who broke through the police cordon this morning and occupied several square meters on the Old Sava Bridge, ended the blockade and left the area between the two police cordons.
Tonight, the organizers of the protest screwed the improvised canopy to the asphalt, and after 17:00 pm they started installing the side nylon protection. There is no electricity on the bridge, so the protest continues in the dark.
This morning, taking the bridge
Đorđe Miketić, representative of the Initiative "The Bridge Remains", told the media that around 6 o'clock this morning, the citizens carried out a secret operation to occupy the bridge, in order to stop the machines that are demolishing the bridge.
"The policemen were sleeping in the vans and we approached them without wanting to clash, because our goal is to stop the machines, not to clash with the police who are protecting the illegal bridge demolition work." There was less pushing, because we woke up the policemen, but we established a dialogue and soon they formed a cordon in front of which we are standing," Đorđe Miketić told Nova.rs, specifying that the machines that are now in the middle of the bridge cannot carry out the work, which is and was the goal.
He thanked the MPs who provided support.
"We invite everyone to come to the liberated bridge. The police are here, there are deputies, councilors. We ask that they show us all the papers in the sun. This police force is in trouble here because it protects criminal activities. You can come via the spider to the slope, or via the Old Fairground," said Miketić in a video he published this morning on the X network.
In the videos published by the activists, it can be seen that the machines working on its dismantling were stopped when citizens entered the bridge this morning.
The police repeatedly used force
Activists have been trying to prevent the dismantling of the bridge for days, and a camp has even been set up for that purpose. The police repeatedly used force against the activists, and they responded to the police blockade of the bridge by blocking certain streets in the elite neighborhood of Belgrade on the water.
Thus, a group of citizens blocked the intersection near Kula Beograd in Belgrade on the water on Saturday around 16 p.m., which was not liked by some drivers who got out of their vehicles and ran into the crowd, which led to pushing.
People's deputies of the Party of Freedom and Justice Marinika Tepić, Dušan Nikezić, Borko Stefanović, Branko Miljuš and city councilor Mila Popović are on the bridge with the activists this morning.
The Freedom and Justice Party published a video showing their deputy Borko Stefanović wrestling with the police early this morning on the Old Sava Bridge.
