Through the sharing of photos of women without consent and revenge pornography, the website Madrles, nicknamed the "Rape Academy", lives on in the Balkans. These platforms survive thanks to legal loopholes, and are fed by a wider network of misogynistic communities known as the "manosphere".

The law alone is not enough.

"Threats to journalists often come from circles that refer to 'family', 'national' or 'patriotic' values. And shouldn't the basic value be respect for women? How is it possible for someone to write to a woman or girl that she should be killed, expelled, labeled as an 'enemy' - just because she is doing her job"
