Students and the citizens of Subotica are going on a memorial walk to Novi Sad from October 29 to 31 in memory of the 16 people who lost their lives in the fall of the canopy at the Railway Station in Novi Sad on November 1, 2024.
The students posted the route they will walk on their Instagram account. "A year later, those responsible are still missing. That's why we're walking - so that it won't be forgotten," they wrote.
The places they will pass through are: Subotica, Stari Žednik, Mali Beograd, Bačka Topola, Bajša, Lipar, Kula, Vrbas, Bačko Dobro Polje, Zmajevo, Stepanovićevo, Kisač, Rumenka and Novi Sad.
"During the journey, we will be joined by students and citizens from Backa Topola, Sombor, Vrbas and other places, in order to remember the victims and express solidarity together," the students said.
Zmajevo – a special place
The students indicated that a special place on their journey is Znajevo, the birthplace of Vukašin Crnčević, as well as Stepanovićevo, the place where Nemanja Komar and Đuro Švonja lived, who tragically lost their lives in the fall of the canopy.
"During the short break in Zmajevo, we will remember Vukašin and pay our respects to him, while in Stepanovićevo, a tribute will be held to all the victims - as an act of unity, respect and eternal memory of all those who lost their lives that day", write the students.
The puppy will end on October 31st in Novi Sad, the day before the anniversary of the tragedy, so that November 1st will be celebrated together — in silence, dignity and memory.
"We are walking so that it is not forgotten. For them. For the truth. For responsibility", concluded the students.
Šeta and Western Serbia
On October 25, students from the cities of western Serbia are leaving Čačak for a walk to Novi Sad on the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the tragedy.
"This is not just a walk, this is a symbol of strength that is born from pain, grows from togetherness and never disappears," wrote the students at the blockade of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Čačak on their Instagram account.
They also published a map of the walk that will go from Čačak, through Požega, Kosjerić, Valjevo, Koceljevo, Šabac, Ruma and Novi Sad.
Citizens starting from Bogatić will join them in Šabac and continue their journey to Novi Sad, while citizens from Sremska Mitrovica will join them in Ruma and continue together to Novi Sad.
