In light of the frequent media headlines which refer to the alleged "abolition of protection" of the General Staff facilities in Belgrade, the Republic Geodetic Institute informs the public that the cadastre services act exclusively in accordance with the valid Law on Special Procedures for the realization of the project of revitalization and development of the location between Kneza Miloša, Masarikova, Birčaninova and Resavska streets.
This law prescribes the cessation of the property of cultural property for the objects in question, so the cadastre is obliged to technically implement such a decision of the legislator, without the discretionary right to decide on it.
RGZ does not evaluate whether the object is or is not a cultural asset - the registration and deletion of properties in the cadastre are solely the result of the law or the decisions of the competent authority, and not the assessment of the institution itself.
In particular, we point out the latest media invitations to unauthorized persons to file appeals against cadastre decisions, which represents an illegal pressure on institutions and officials. Such behavior disturbs the public, trivializes legal procedures and encourages abuse of the right to appeal, which RGZ has been dealing with for years and is continuously working to suppress.
Such calls violate legal certainty and can lead to obstruction of proceedings before competent authorities.
The Republic Geodetic Institute reminds that the registration procedure in the cadastre has strictly prescribed rules and a clearly defined circle of participants. Media appeals cannot extend those rights, nor can they affect the course of legal proceedings.
RGZ will continue to consistently apply regulations and protect the legality and integrity of the registration process.
