Parents of students of the First Belgrade High School gathered on Monday evening for a protest in front of that educational institution, as a sign of support for the blocked students who found their classrooms locked this morning.
The director and part of the teaching staff informed the parents this morning about the decision that, for safety reasons, classes for lower grade students will not be held in classrooms, but online.
The attitude of students and parents is to reject online teaching.
70 percent of parents participated in the survey organized on social networks, and 90 percent supported the students, while less than five percent were against the announcement of support.
It is expected that the decision of the Parents' Council meeting tonight will respect their decision.
Those gathered tonight at the protest blocked the corner of Cara Dušana and Dobračina streets.
Pressure due to blockages
On Friday, part of the collective decided that this week classes will take place online.
The majority of parents and students, they say, are against such a decision and see it as pressure due to blockades. On the other hand, teachers who supported the decision claim that it was made for the safety of the students.
In the notice sent to students and parents, as reported by "Insider", among other things, it is written that "the number of cases of non-compliance with basic school rules, as well as the activities of students that expose them to danger (organized outings on the street despite explicit warnings, disobeying safety instructions, bringing foreigners to school, massive use of the main entrance, self-initiated bringing and use of various devices for preparing food and entertainment, removing and removing televisions from the classroom, disabling computers) has increased sharply in classrooms, breaking furniture)".
As stated in the document signed by part of the staff of the First Belgrade High School, which implements the classes, "all of the above makes it almost impossible to maintain the necessary level of safety for students and employees."
This school has been in lockdown since December, and as students and professors say, this is supported by the majority of students and parents. 30 professors currently support the blockade, while 48 of them are against it.
Parent
Igor Kovačević, a parent of a student of the First Belgrade High School, told RTS that online teaching in the current circumstances will encourage deeper divisions between students and teachers.
"Online classes in a situation where some students want to attend them, others will not, some professors want to hold them, some will not, absolutely do not correspond to the concept of school and the concept of education." I think that it encourages deeper divisions among students, teachers... The children clearly said what they want, she spoke out, and that is to support fellow students and other educational workers by not attending the teaching program," says Kovačević.
He emphasized that the students spent the day "in the corridors, toilets, in fact, they are defending every way of organized action".
General Manager
Director Aleksandar Andrejić told RTS that "several unpleasant situations" happened on Friday:
"We had one computer breakdown, a teacher was told to go outside with the students she was teaching. In our case, the situation is such that we have a part of the collective that implements the teaching, a part of the collective that is in the blockade, and all our students are in the blockade", said Aleksandar Andrejić.
