Teachers, associates, researchers, students and non-teaching staff of the Faculty of Philosophy University of Niš today they published a petition demanding the annulment of the decision Government of Serbia on the establishment of the Faculty of Serbian Studies at the University in that city.
They invite the academic public of all higher education institutions to support the petition with their signature.
They point out that they are against the formation Faculty of Serbian Studies in the manner provided by the unconstitutional and illegal Government Decision.
The petition published on the peticije.online portal was initiated by a group of teachers from the Department of Serbian Studies, History and Russian Language and Literature of the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš.
The court must determine the constitutionality
At the press conference held on Monday in the dean's office of the Faculty of Philosophy, the vice dean for finance and higher education institution Marija Vujović stated that the faculty will ask the Government of Serbia to immediately withdraw the decision on the establishment of the Faculty of Serbian Studies.
She announced that the Faculty of Philosophy will send an initiative to the Constitutional Court to determine the constitutionality and legality of the decision to establish a new faculty.
She added that she will hold Niš Mayor Dragoslav Pavlović accountable because, according to her, the City sent the initiative to establish a new faculty to the Ministry of Education.
"The administration undertakes and actively works on all legal steps, but it is responsible to all employees and must act according to the Government's decision because the fact is that the Government is the founder of all faculties," Vujović said.

Full professor of the Department of History, Irena Ljubomirović, pointed out that the entire process regarding the establishment of the Faculty of Serbian Studies was conducted "non-transparently and secretly".
She said that the Government of Serbia made a decision to establish a new faculty "despite the fact that the teaching-scientific council, the Council of the Faculty of Philosophy, as well as the Council of the University of They are not they did not agree to that proposal".
"No one gave consent and consent, this kind of violence and terror that is carried out against the Faculty of Philosophy and the University of Nis is unheard of in the academic community," said Ljubomirović.
She added that there are 36 teachers working in the three mentioned departments, of which 13 have expressed their wish to transfer to the new faculty.
