Editorial team of "Vreme" With Žaret's departure she lost her own roots and a large part of her identity. But he left behind a baton of free and sharp journalism, which, we hope, we will successfully pass on to every next generation of "Vremena" journalists. Even today, we remember him for his willingness to bear the brunt of the pressure on his own back and to even sacrifice himself in order to spare the editorial office and preserve its integrity and credibility.
The rules of journalism that he taught us are still alive today, just like the numerous quotes that we still use in the newsroom today. We don't start the text if we don't have a title. We choose one corner and write from it. We delete the adjectives in the sentence, but keep the verbs. Even his humor entered the everyday language of the newsroom: "Honey, let your friend tell you", he used to say to young journalists, whose legs would be torn off when Žare told them he was their friend. Or, the sentence he used to drive the editorial board crazy: "I'm tired, I'm sick, and I have to write."
As an editor, he knew how to protect everyone, from the most famous author to the newly arrived journalist. If one of the interlocutors was unpleasant to a young beginner, he taught us to send them where they should go, noting that no one yells at "Vremena" journalists.
Anyone who came to "Vreme" while Žare was still with us knows to this day the exact time and place when he met him, when Žare first spoke to him... We still preserve the tradition he established today. The door to the editor-in-chief's room is always open and anyone can enter at any time. There is no appointment or announcement. He taught us that he is an editor and a parent and a general, but never a despot. In fact, no one in the newsroom ever called him an editor. He was always - Žare. And Žare, for us, has always been and will remain, not a nickname, but a title.

All the biographical information, however, is not enough to convey his editorial and journalistic lucidity, talent and incredible communication skills and charisma.
