Lawyer Vladimir Gajić, founder of the movement "Bolja advokatura" and one of the future candidates in the upcoming elections for the president of the Belgrade Bar Association, tells "Vreme" that everything that is happening with the finding of weapons near the Vučić family's cottage in Jajinci seems to him as "the simplest form of theatrical performance".
"This is a game show!" he says and continues: "With very few ideas, you can try to present to an insufficiently informed world an event that serves purely for propaganda purposes." This, at least what they show in public, seems ridiculous to me. Not that I don't believe in the whole story about the alleged preparation of the assassination of the prime minister, but it all makes me laugh out loud.
Here, let's say, we haven't seen the weapon, now we're waiting for partial DNA, as the Prime Minister said... Then we have the statements of the Minister of Police who says that they identified where the weapon came from, so he said about one hand grenade that it was from the vicinity of Sarajevo. It's really incredible that our police can determine where the bomb came from, only that the bomb said to him: 'I'm from around Sarajevo, so they brought me here.'"
If all this was really serious, says lawyer Gajić, an extensive investigation would first be carried out "without notifying the public, so as not to warn the possible perpetrators - to hide, to run away, to destroy some potential additional evidence - all this, a serious investigation never would work".
"If you want to shed light on one thing such as the possibility of assassinating the prime minister, you will not inform the public until the moment when you have completed the investigation in a professional manner." Everything else is frivolous," he says.
We are witnessing the silence of the authorities about the "Savamal case", even the anger of the competent prosecutor's office to inform the public about the course of the proceedings.
"Let's not forget that we have a case that is far more difficult than the Savamala case, the helicopter crash in which seven people died, in which the prosecutor's office behaved the same way and after a year they suspended the investigation - therefore there is no reason to expect anything else compared to Savamalu. And that even though the Prime Minister said at the beginning that Savamala had connections with people from the city government - complete idiots, as he said - and it seems to me that it would be too naive to believe that it was organized by someone from the city government, including Siniša Malog, or chief of the city police or director of the municipal police. They can be involved only to the extent that someone from above ordered them not to take any step according to their authority, or rather, they could eventually be held accountable for some inaction. They are certainly not the organizers of that case - it is known who is the organizer of all those cases in the country, it can only be one person. I am absolutely sure that all those who are in government positions, in fact, are not in those positions. They are there to sign something, none of them can make any decisions on their own. The prime minister is the minister of all ministries, and the assistant, and the state secretary, and the president of Serbia and the prime minister... but everything."
To the question, if that is already the case, why do we live in a permanent state of emergency, from coups to the assassination of the prime minister, powerful spies... Gajić answers with the question: "And when we didn't live in a state of emergency?"
We don't have free media - you can count on the fingers of one hand the free media that are limited in their scope and only a narrow circle of citizens can be informed about the facts and what is happening in society and in the public. We do not have public opinion at all, let alone free, but it is completely controlled.
The opposition is completely destroyed, with some small attempts to recover, without membership, without money, without the media support they need - not because the media would cheer for someone, but because the opposition is in the interest of a democratic society, to be strong and serious, not to fail. It should be in everyone's interest, even the government. We no longer have any dialogue, the prime minister knows everything, all the elite - both civil and nationalist - have been destroyed, the Academy of Sciences no longer represents anything in society, nor does the Church... This means that everyone has been completely thrown out of the saddle and it can only be characterized as an open dictatorship. The way our government representatives behave in public, let's say towards diplomatic representatives, is incredible. This statement by the Minister of Police to the American Ambassador, it is really astonishing. I wrote one tweet, that I think that Vesna Pešić honored the Minister of Police when she said that he was stupid. If he were one hundred percent right, you can't behave like that towards the least important country in the world - out of decency!
Second, when you look at the tabloids that are under the direct control of the Government and when you see those headlines, and given that foreign ambassadors know very well how these newspapers are edited, it is clear to them what message is being sent. Regardless of what Vucic is doing kao he is trying to lead Serbia towards the EU, all of this is done by obvious force, and I personally think that he thinks the worst about the EU and the connection of Serbia with the Western world, and I think that now we will come to a situation where everything will turn around", says Gajić for " Time".
