Donald Trump's return to the White House could significantly affect the US smartphone market. His plan to impose a 60 percent tariff on goods made in China includes Apple devices, which could drastically raise their prices and weaken the US tech giant's position
It is known that it is the most favorable buy iPhone in America. Even with the local tax included, the price is lower than in Europe or elsewhere in the world with the exception of China and buying from couriers. But with the return of Donald Trump to the White House, this could change drastically. The average iPhone could go up by as much as three hundred dollars. Reason - carina.
During the campaign, the newly elected president announced that he would raise tariffs on everything imported from China, including American products that are assembled there. And that includes everything sold by Apple. In Trump's first term, they managed to convince him to exempt cell phones and computers from tariffs, but now it seems that Trump won't take it anymore. He promised voters that everything coming from China would be burdened with a 60 percent tariff and he is determined to implement it. That price does not include the seller's margin in the USA, but even without that the price will be at least a third higher.
Unlike iPhones, Samsung phones are made mostly in South Korea and some other countries in that region, especially those that are exported to America. Unless Trump changes his plans, Samsung will become a dramatically cheaper and more affordable choice. So Trump's plan could destroy the giant of American industry and innovation in favor of a Korean competitor. Contrary to his promise to fix America and make America great again.
The other big battle that is certain is the showdown with TikTok. Even near the end of his previous mandate, Trump intended to abolish this network, which we wrote extensively here. It bothered him that he was the target of ridicule on it, but also that he thought China was using TikTok to unhinderedly collect data on Americans, their habits and spending. The attitude towards TikTok is one of the few things that the Biden administration has accepted and even strengthened, so that we are now in a situation where TikTok could be banned in the US as early as January, regardless of the occupant of the White House. Of course, that does not include the possibility of appealing to the highest instances, which could extend the ban for another month. But it seems quite certain. For now.
Despite this, TikTok was a key platform to win over young voters in the recently concluded elections. Connoisseurs say that Kamala Harris did it better by literally drowning her performance in the TikTok manner, which means fun and fashion, humorous clips, presenting herself in an unexpected light, in accordance with the medium. Trump was slightly behind in the number of views, but his approach was quite conservative, the messages were non-tiktok, they were more suited to television or Facebook, which is considered a gathering place boomer. The results say that Harris won over that part of the electorate, not only because of TikTok, but certainly because of him. But that was not enough.
Data shows that as many as 170 million Americans, i.e. one in two, have a TikTok account and that those who are of legal age use this medium for about 54 minutes a day. These are significant numbers and many are interested in jumping into them. Perhaps the most favorable position could be Elon Musk, who made an effort of his own and advocated for Trump in the campaign. And that would have to come back to him somehow, not only by exempting Tesla from tariffs on cars made in China but also by promoting Ix (Twitter) as a platform that will take over Tiktokers.
All this provided that the friendship between Trump and Musk lasts. Many would rather put their money on TikTok, which is safe at least until January.

Arrests out of the blue, banishment from the country, beatings... All this happened to us in the last week alone. The Serbian Progressive Party, born from the foam left behind by their spiritual father Vojislav Šešelj, is returning to its roots. I can't escape from myself
"The levers of power are not in their hands," said Bishop Grigorije. "But there is something in the Holy Scriptures that I like very much, and that is that the power of God is revealed in weakness. So, all worldly power is on one side. And on the other side, in the hands of these young men and women is the weakness of this world. But in their weakness, the power of God or God's justice appears. That is why they are at such a great advantage."
The regime and its media have been trumpeting the "civil war" for months, and the government is the only one that has a patent for peace and stability - of course, with the help of the propaganda machine and the use of force. "It is a propaganda tactic of SNS that says: 'violence is everywhere, terrorists surround us, but we are here to save you,'" explains communication professor Jelena Kleut for "Vreme".
Students and citizens who accompany them on these walking feats, were welcomed as the most native together with those who came the day before from other places. A dove of peace was also released on the stage next to the promenade along the river - this symbolic gesture of the two students is the most impressive gesture of understanding and respect between the Bosniak and Serbian peoples since the end of the wars in the former Yugoslavia
The three-day parliament for the promotion of Aleksandar Vučić and his Movement for the People and the State was realistically a fiasco. But it was first of all conceived as a media spectacle for regime television directed by court promoter Željko "DJ Žeks" Mitrović, with scenography and iconography adapted to the Serbian political market.
Anyone who condemns the regime's targeting of people from the media, the non-governmental sector, the opposition and universities, must not agree to this targeting of RTS editors and journalists either.
Depriving Dejan Ilić, an intellectual with an impeccable life and work biography, of his freedom, without the slightest meaningful reason, is just one of the brutal indicators that the regime has turned against its own citizens and is entering a phase of terror

Trump is not an anomaly or a passing phenomenon, as it seemed when he left the White House at the end of his first term. He is the majority of America. Now that all the levers of power are in Trump's hands, the people of America are left to wonder what this choice says about themselves. If he is the best political leader, what a country it is
After the election failure in 2012, the Republicans launched an internal review process: what went wrong. All of this is summarized in a report colloquially called an autopsy of the Republican Party. With the 2016 election result in mind, it would seem that they made the right move at the right time, although it is difficult to determine whether the text of the autopsy was a guide to the election victory or, simply, Donald Trump happened. The Democrats have the same task in 2024, the only question is whether they are capable and willing to fulfill it
The policies of the new US president are a version of destructive and authoritarian national capitalism - even with elements of racism - that reaches out to those dissatisfied with the so-called liberal hegemony and the power structures that sustain it. Therefore, it is not difficult to determine where such political enthusiasm in Serbia comes from when it comes to Trump. Serbs like to think of themselves as a collective victim of the same system, or at least the government in Serbia tries to project such an image to the electorate.
A few days before the first election that he will win, Trump says: "I could kill a man in the middle of Fifth Avenue right now, and I would still win." "We" are appalled, but we are somewhat comforted by his naivety. He wins
Vucic invited Trump as a guest, as soon as possible, although we do not know if he promised to come. Everything will be in order - from bread and scones to Ivica who will sing and prepare a new set of photos from the last meeting, like back in New York
