Already five days before this text of the weekly "Vreme" goes to press, it is still not known whose it is marihuana stored in the village Konjuh at the local progressive Rade Spasojević, who was arrested together with his son Nebojša. Ana Spasojević, Radet's wife, was more open to the public than the police and the prosecutor's office on tabloid portals.
"We are a respectable family. That's what you say: 'Give me this, I'll come and put it away'. It doesn't matter who did it, that will of course be revealed during the investigation," says Ana Spasojević and continues: "Don't ask me about it at all. It's true... This has never happened to us, or anything like that, so... Unfortunately, I didn't know what we were keeping, but that's why my son and husband knew. But it was only there for a few days, two or three days, allegedly someone should have come and taken it. But this happened... I'm drinking Bensedin, my brother-in-law brought it, I can't sleep".
Apart from the fact that Ana Spasojević built the case against her husband and son as a witness with her statement to the media, it also seems that the whole operation was well controlled by someone, perhaps not only the one who left the drugs on Spasojević's property, but also the one who found them. And when things don't get out of hand in the war on drugs, the publicity usually turns out better than the fight against drugs.
The epilogue so far is that the disunited parts of the prosecutor's office and the police insist equally strongly to stand out, take action and say: "We found it. Without us, this would not have happened."
Police Minister Ivica Dacic, who visited Konjuh just a few hours after the raid, said that this action followed the actions that preceded it and that this group was already under attack by the police, that about two tons of marijuana were seized in August, and about 100 kilograms a week ago when UM was arrested in Belgrade (1997).
Dacic congratulated the Criminal Police Directorate and all other organizational units that participated in front of the cameras, and emphasized that they will all be rewarded. Next to him was the new head of the Criminal Police Directorate, Marko Krichak, on whose command the drug warehouse was raided.
The long-time head of the Anti-Drug Service of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia, Raša Popović, was not there, whom the sources of "Vremena" claim was the bringer of information about the whereabouts of the five tons, on the very day when he heard that the new head of the UKP Kricak was planning to replace him. For the most part, Popović still hasn't been replaced.
Perhaps this also accelerated the whole process, so the prosecution did not follow up on who would take the drugs, transport them, buy them, and thus cut the entire drug chain. In this way, there is a risk that when five tons "fall", fifty "pass" and while the policemen and prosecutors fight for the merits and go around in circles with the mantra "whose action is it", the mafia will continue to do business without hindrance with predetermined losses. According to "Vremen" information, the confiscated marijuana did come from Macedonia, but it is connected to the Albanian mafia. Allegedly, it was planned to sell part of it in Serbia, and the rest in Austria.
According to the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, apart from father and son Spasojević, two other men were arrested, while one is on the run.
"Given that the suspect Aleksandar Mijajlović, who is designated as the organizer of this organized criminal group, is on the run, a proposal was made to the judge for preliminary proceedings to issue a warrant against this suspect, including an international one. This organized criminal group operated on an international scale, by acquiring the narcotic drug marijuana in the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia from the beginning of January 2026 to January 29, 2026 5.002.079,18 grams. According to the organizer's plan, suspect Ivan Dragnić transported the drug across the border to the warehouse of the suspects Spasojević, from where it was taken by suspect Uroš Mladenovski. It is particularly indicative that suspect Ivan Dragnić is a co-owner of the company "Alphapharm" in Skopje, which is registered for the production and processing of medical cannabis, the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime announced the continuation of the investigation.
The prosecutor leading this case, Irena Bjeloš, was referred to TOK three years ago. Her superiors did not find it appropriate to elect her as a permanent prosecutor during all that time, so due to the new law on prosecutors that was adopted at the beginning of March, she will have to return to her home Higher Public Prosecutor's Office, where she came from, and thus stop the investigation into five tons of marijuana from Konjuh.
Her case will be taken over by one of only nine permanent prosecutors in the TOK, who already have loads of cases to work on. By the way, the prosecutors are now protesting against the "Mrdić Laws", which were signed by the President of the State, Aleksandar Vučić, on the same day that the drugs were discovered in Konjuh.
EQUATIONS WITH MULTIPLE (PO)UNKNOWN
In this problem with an infinite number of solutions, and each one will be difficult to reach, the following is known. The suspected owner of the warehouse in Konjuh near Kruševac is Rade Spasojević, president of that local community and member of the SNS. Otherwise, he is a nurseryman and sells gherkin cucumbers and pear seedlings to the public. Allegedly, he is very close to Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić. The Gašić family is from Kruševac and a bunch of photos show that they often met and contacted the arrested Spasojević. Although according to the function it is not foreseen that the Minister of Defense will announce the seizure of drugs, it happened. Even before the roosters crowed, Gašić was the first to disown his countryman and party comrade: "Anyone who thinks they can hide behind a party card in order to commit criminal acts will not succeed."
When it comes to Gašić, he was at the head of all the security services of Serbia, and he is probably accidentally connected to the two biggest drug cases in Serbia. He was previously the Minister of Police, before that the Director of the Security Information Agency (BIA), and before that the Minister of Defense for the first time. Let us remind you that when he was the head of the BIA, then the police officers of the Department for the fight against drugs of the Belgrade police discovered, according to the indictment, the largest skunk factory in Europe - "Jovanjica".
Although Gašić was never heard on that occasion, the inspectors who arrested Predrag Koluvija, co-owner of the Jovanjic estate and suspected of being the leader of an organized criminal group, stated that it was Gasić who was in contact with Koluvija very often. By the way, two members of the BIA are also charged with drug cultivation in Jovanjica. One of them recently testified that everything he did on Jovanjica was done by order of the Agency. Predrag Koluvija also owns a marijuana plantation in Macedonia.
When Gašić became the head of the MUP after the BIA, the head of the department that exposed Jovanjica, Slobodan Milenković, was dismissed, as was the former chief of operations of that department, Dušan Mitić, and several inspectors who participated in the arrest of Koluvija and "his" group were arrested, detained, and rigged trials are still being conducted against them. In the meantime, due to information that a million euros had been paid in advance for the murder of Milenkovic and Mitić, they live with 24-hour police security.
JOVANJIKA VS KNJUH - NOTICE THE DIFFERENCES
On the property in Konjuh, there were five tons of "homemade" marijuana - not very high-quality goods, but they are well "rolled" on the street for regular users of "light" varieties. The value of the entire seizure is around 10 million euros, according to the Minister of Police. On the other hand, according to the indictment and the assessments of three independent experts, high-quality skunk was produced on Jovanjica - several dozen types of skunk that were superior in terms of strength and quality even for the world market. So, incomparably better goods than the "homemade".
The seizure of marijuana in a warehouse in Konjuh is a record seizure of narcotics in alcohol, however, according to the indictment, Jovanjica was not only a warehouse, but primarily a drug factory, both underground and above ground. Koluvija also presented himself as a producer of tomatoes and radishes, and he promoted his property and toured a good part of the top of the state in front of TV cameras.
Koluvia's defense attorney is one of the most prominent officials and spokespersons of SNS, Vladimir Đukanović, while Spasojević from Konjuh hired a law firm that usually deals with clients accused of organized crime.
A large part of the prominent members of SNS praised and defended Koluvia with the letter, and they renounced the host Radet with the letter.
Five tons of marijuana were seized in Konjuh, while 1.6 tons were seized in Jovanjica. More precisely - on the estate of Predrag Koluvija, according to the prosecutor's statement, there were 65 thousand stalks, each of which yielded 200 to 300 grams of skank and marijuana, so it was stamped every three months.
Because of the "Konjuh" case, a local politician and his son, as well as two not-so-prominent characters, were arrested, while another is being sought. When it comes to Jovanjica, because of her it happened for the first time that members of the police and members of the BIA were arrested and charged together as members of an organized criminal group, while one member of the military intelligence service is on the run and they were all accused of being Koluvia's "ring of protection".
In the end, the MUP hid the discovery of Jovanjica from the public for days in November 2019, until opposition politician Miroslav Aleksić spoke about it in the middle of the Serbian Parliament. In front of the warehouse in Konjuh was the Minister of Police and the entire police leadership, and the news was headline news in all media from the first moment.
After a series of differences, here's another match to finish. Prosecutor Saša Drecun, who represents the "Jovanjica" case, was referred to TOK. It's been seven years now. Even his superiors didn't find it appropriate to elect him as a permanent prosecutor all these years, so he too is returning to the parent prosecutor's office at the beginning of March. The subject "Jovanjica" will be taken over by someone else. During that time, the defendants continue to obstruct the trials and at the last hearing, at the beginning of this week, most of them fell ill again.
