The closure of Serbian institutions in Kosovo continues - this time the targets were the services in Štrpac and Leposavic. The Serbian services were either evicted or given a deadline to leave the premises
Kosovo Police she broke into several on Wednesday (April 23). Serbian institutions in Štrpac and Leposavic, reports the portal KoSSev.
First, in Štrpce, the building of the New Public Utility Company, which functioned in the system of the Republic of Serbia, was sealed.
After the action in Štrpac, the Kosovo police also entered the building in Leposavic where four services of the Republic of Serbia functioned until April 23. These are: Republic Institute for Health Insurance, PIO Fund, Hospitality Company Kopaonik and Employment Agency.
With the exception of the Health Insurance Institute, which was given seven days to move out of these premises, the workers of the other institutions left and they were closed.
The Kosovo authorities have confirmed the closure of these, for them, "parallel institutions".
Closing "parallel institutions"
As the deputy commander for the North region, Veton Eljšani, told KoSSev, the police entered the building in the center of Leposavic at the request of the municipality in order to "take possession of the building".
It was about occupying the premises where the Kosovo Center for Social Work was located on the first floor. However, on the second and third floors, the police simultaneously entered the premises where the Serbian Labor Market Institute, PIO Fund and Put Kopaonik were functioning until now.
"Everyone left except the health insurance. The mayor gave them seven days," said Eljsani.
When asked why this institution was given a deadline, but not the others, Elšani says:
"Because the employees said they have a lot of documentation they have to present."
He also said that some of these institutions did not even have names on the doors.
In the meantime, the Kosovo police also spoke out, which practically confirmed Elšani's allegations, except that the Institute of Health was given a seven-day deadline.
"These premises, which are owned by the Municipality of Leposavic, were usurped by parallel institutions of Serbia that acted illegally on the territory of the Republic of Kosovo," they stated.
Mass closure of Serbian institutions
This morning's raid on Serbian institutions in Kosovo is the latest in a series of actions by the Kosovo police, who have been closing, according to them, "parallel institutions of Serbia" for years.
In February, members of the Kosovo police raided the branches of the Center for Social Work under the Government of Serbia system in Kosovska Mitrovica, Leposavić and Zubin Potok. Having presented the found documentation, the police closed the inter-municipal Center for Social Work in Kosovska Mitrovica, which functions under the Serbian system, and took the director, Sonja Obradović, to an informative interview.
In mid-January, the Kosovo police occupied the facilities of Serbian government institutions south of the Ibar, and among the closed institutions was the Center for Social Work based in Gračanica, which left about 450 families without social assistance, said the director of this center Nebojša Petković at the time.
In December, the Kosovo Police sealed the Directorate for Building Land and Roads and the Public Housing Company in Mitrovica, while part of the inventory was removed.
The list just starts there. Back in May of last year, the Kosovo authorities closed all facilities of the Poštanska štedionica Bank in the North of Kosovo. A total of five branches of Poštanska Štedionica and the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia were closed.
Less than four months later, the facilities of the Post of Serbia were also closed. At that time, three post offices in Kosovska Mitrovica, two in the municipality of Zvečan, one in Zubin Potok and three in the municipality of Leposavić were sealed.
It was during this period that the opening of Kosovo post offices in the North began. In March of this year, on the premises of the Postal Savings Bank in the center of Zvečani, and right next to the former Serbian Post Office, the sign of the Post of Kosovo will be installed.
A sign with the name "Zyra Postare / Posta" "Zveçan 2 - Zvečan 2" and a notification about the post office's working hours were installed.
On the other hand, the Kosovo Privatization Agency sealing notice from August last year is still stuck on this building, and the Privatization Agency tapes and the police tapes are broken.
The building of the Post of Serbia, which is located right next to it, still looks like it did when it was sealed.
