The Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia (NUNS) today re-elected Željko Bodrožić as president at its regular assembly. Out of 103 members, he received 96 votes.
Željko Bodrožić is a permanent contributor to Vremen.
Also, NUNS published a proclamation demanding respect for legality in the media sphere.
It was established that the demands of the public at the protest regarding the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media overlap with the demands of the professional public, media organizations and the civil sector, according to the proclamation.
It is requested that a new REM Council be formed and it is expected to be committed to democratic decision-making, and to exclude everything vulgar and harmful, according to the proclamation.
The Ministry of Information and Telecommunications is required to consistently apply the regulations to the print media under its jurisdiction.
In this way, it is possible to reduce tensions and contribute to the overall democratic development of Serbia, it is estimated in the proclamation.
At the NUNS Assembly, Bodrožić assessed that the environment in which journalists work is hostile and that the current government is trying in every way to hinder their work.
"However, given that the regime led by the president and the prime minister insults, attacks and criminalizes journalists of professional media more and more often, which threatens their safety and existence, especially in the interior, there is always a possibility that with a broad consensus with partner associations and associations, and with consultations with the membership, let's take more radical steps," said Bodrožić.
He pointed out that in most commissions for the allocation of funds for the co-financing of media projects, there is no representative of NUNS.
The assumptions are that NUNS has around 3.000 members, and his wish is that 500 to 1.000 people "actively participate" in NUNS activities.
