The students in the blockade announced a rally of support for their colleagues from the University of Pristina with headquarters in Kosovska Mitrovica and Serbs from Kosovo on Saturday, October 11, the day before holding local elections in the Republic of Kosovo. Previously, he was the president of Serbia for the same day Aleksandar Vučić announced rallies in several places in Serbia, as he said, against the blockades but also in support of the Serbs in Kosovo.
The students in the blockade announced on Instagram that their rally will begin at 14 p.m. at the Faculty of Law, after which they plan to walk to the Office of the Government of Serbia for Kosovo and Metohija, which is located in the Palace of Serbia.
According to them, the current authorities have left the people of Kosovo and Metohija without support and help, "except when their pain is used for the purposes of media and election propaganda, clearly ignoring the fact that helping its citizens is their moral and legal obligation."
"We, the students in the blockade, who are advocating for a just state and respect for the Constitution, are obliged to remind the public that the University of Pristina is part of our university system and to be in solidarity with our colleagues, and together to break the media darkness," the statement added.
They want to raise awareness about the repression and problems that happen in Kosovo every day and resolutely refuse to remain silent in the face of injustice.
"We invite everyone to join us on October 11 and together show solidarity with our people in Kosovo and Metohija," the students said.
What is happening in Kosovo?
Local elections are scheduled for October 12. As the president said Kosova Vjosa Osmani "this decision was made after careful consideration of the proposals of political subjects, as well as after a complete analysis, in accordance with the constitutional and legal deadlines".
A week ago start of the election campaign in Kosovo, representatives of the Serbian List attended the liturgy in the Church of Saint Sava in South Mitrovica. They took the cameraman with them, "Time" was written.
They marked the beginning of the pre-election campaign at midnight on the promenade, and the morning at the pre-election convention at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in North Kosovska Mitrovica.
That's what they're on students of the University of Pristina with a temporary headquarters in Kosovska Mitrovica, who months ago gave a 16-minute post for the victims in Novi Sad, reacted and wrote that it was a "violation of the autonomy of the last Serbian institution for the sake of self-promotion of traitors".
Everyone for brother Milan
In front of the faculty and in the closed space, Serbian flags were flying, promises were being made, and the citizens were cheering for the Serbian List. On the wall in the amphitheater there was an inscription: "All for brother Milan!!!". It remained unclear to whom the message referred - whether to the candidate for mayor Milan Radojević or the former vice-president of the Serbian List, Milan Radoičić, who admitted that he led the armed conflict in Banjska, after which he formally resigned from the position of vice-president of this list.
The Serbian List held conventions in 10 municipalities where they ran. In Zubin Potok, the candidate for mayor, Miloš Perović, told the citizens that he addresses them as their friend with the desire to become a "grandfather together with everyone".
The holder of the list in Zubin Potok, Srđan Vulović, said that they made a mistake by leaving the institutions in November 2022.
Alluding to Aljbin Kurti and the Self-Determination Movement, Vulović said that nobody likes him (Kurti) - neither Serbs nor Albanians. However, he is loved by Serbs who "sold themselves for a cultivator and a tiller".
The grand finale of the pre-election campaign of the Serbian List will take place today, October 8, when Breskvica is scheduled to perform in North Mitrovica. Those interested can buy tickets for this concert at the headquarters of the Serbian List.
Against blockades, and maybe for Kosovo
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, announced that on Saturday, October 11, rallies will be organized in several places in the country, not only against the blockades, but also in support of the Serbs in Kosovo.
"This time there will not only be a stop to the blockades, but there will also be support for our people in Kosovo and Metohija," said Vučić on Tuesday, during a tour of Ložionica.
He added that he was informed by the Center for Social Stability, which is the organizer of the meetings, that not all meetings will be held at the same time.
"Some will go at 16 p.m., some at 17 p.m., and some at 18 p.m., but this time they will be in the highest places and in many villages, everywhere, where people will come out to support our people and, of course, against violence and blockades," said the Serbian president.
