The organization "Belgrade Remains" together with 15 city councils, as well as Kreni-Promeni and Green-Left Front collected thousands of objections to the new plan for expansion of Belgrade on the water.
Representatives of these organizations they filed complaints in the hope that, as they say, the commission will do as legal procedures and the public interest of citizens dictate.
Marko Jakšić, an activist of "Belgrade Remains" who, together with other people, submitted the purchased complaints, believes that the part of Belgrade that is encompassed by the new expansion of Belgrade on the Water is the most important for its residents.
"We are fighting together with over 10.000 objections to challenge this plan. These are catastrophic changes and additions to a scandalous plan, which in its original scope took 177 hectares of public land and donated it to someone. And he planned such a plan without any control and without any agreement with the development documents, the planning documents of this work. And he created the content that can be seen now. which is in terms of purpose, capacity and in all respects inadequate for that part of the city, which is actually the most important space in Belgrade." Jakić believes.
According to the new draft, the Belgrade on the Water project, from the original 177 hectares, could be expanded by an additional almost 345 hectares - from Čuakrica, Ada Ciganlija and the fair, to Novi Begrad and Terazi - the very center of the city. This is why citizens, who already lack primary infrastructure, are very worried. This was confirmed by Natalija Stojmenović from "Zeleno levi front" who added that citizens waited in lines to sign the complaint.
