Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić he arrived in Florida on April 30, where he announced that he hopes for important and good meetings with the top Republicans from the USA.
Additionally, on his Instagram account, the president announced that he had a meeting with his old friend Rudy Giuliani, with whom he discussed "establishing closer relations between Serbia and America."
However, the rest is Vučić spoke from America it concerned internal policies Serbia and protests.
The President of Serbia said that he was saddened by the fact that, as things look at the moment, the "grisly attack on Patrick Dryd", professor and dean of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education in Novi Sad, will go unpunished.
He announced "a large meeting of the Movement for the People and the State on May 17 in Nis, which will be attended by many friends from abroad", but "also new ones from the country, especially from Nis".
In addition, he counted the participants of the protest rally that took place on the first of May in front of the Government of Serbia and said that there were about 3.000 people in Novi Sad, while there were slightly more in Belgrade. The largest gathering, he added, was held in "Ćaciland", and it was twice as large as the opposition gatherings.
Speaking in Florida, Vučić said that although Serbia's results are better than the European average, he personally feels disappointed because of the destruction caused, as he says, by the blockaders.
"My indicators have fallen hard. We are good at the European level, better than the average, but I am desperate. You know how it is when you live and work for something, and the blockaders destroy everything, just like us, by not offering resistance," said Vučić.
"A deflated ball hits a person more easily than an inflated one. That's why we need to take care of their radicalization," said Vučić, stating that "problems in blockaders' paradise" are yet to come.
"Shame on all the liars who knew what they were doing. I'm not referring to the kids, but to those who led them into all that," concluded Vučić.
What does this kind of narrative mean?
How common is this narrative of the president of a country during a trip?
Branka Latinović, a retired ambassador for "Vreme", says that it was common for the president of the state or government to speak during a visit when he had something important to announce - "when, for example, natural disasters occur and the president speaks in a soothing tone".
He adds that such an address by the president of a country is a "new fashion" and that it is not known as a common practice.
He may come forward with some first-hand information sharing or what is being negotiated along the way.
However, Latinović explains, this is not the case now. "This is some new style that he is using as an instrument of control over what is happening in the country," she says.
She concludes that he thereby shows that he is "in control of the situation" and that he is always there.
