President Aleksandar Vučić said that elections in Serbia will not be held before the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027, while students gathered around university blockades say that the time for extraordinary elections is now. They point to a drastic drop in support for SNS in the local elections in Zaječar and Kosjerić
President Aleksandar Vučić he stated at the Globsek forum in Prague that preparations for the specialized Expo are underway in Serbia and that they will elections in Serbia to be held at the end of next year or at the beginning of 2027.
"Those (protesters) asked when there will be elections. The elections will be either at the end of next year or at the beginning of 2027. That's it. We had elections a year ago and now we are preparing for the specialized Expo 2027," said Vučić when asked about the protests in Serbia at the panel discussion.
Vučić emphasized that we now have a lot of work to do in Serbia, as well as that we have to work a lot on the road to European integration.

In the meantime, the students in the blockade again demanded the calling of special elections, with the message "When you are so sure that you will win, call the coward's elections."
Along with that message, the students posted on Instagram a comparison of the rating of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) with its coalition partners in Kosjerić and Zaječar, where local elections were held on Sunday, stating that the rating dropped from 79,13 percent to 49,23 percent in Kosjerić from 2021 to 2025, as well as from 79,87 percent to 52,6 percent in Zaječar in the same period. period.
They stated that in Zaječar in 2021, the list of the SNS, together with the list of Nenad Ristović, deputy of the SNS, won 71,27 percent of the votes, that is, 79,87 percent together with the list of the Socialist Party of Serbia.
"In the elections on June 8 (2025), the coalition around the SNS won 47,13 percent of the votes, the SPS list won three percent, while the list of Nenad Ristanović won 2,5 percent, i.e. a total of 52,6 percent, 27 percent less than the result four years ago," the students stated, with the comment "if the current results of stolen elections are to be believed."
