The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, listed past and future successes in a performance that was broadcast live by 41 television stations. It was a media barbell that served to spread optimism among SNS voters, says Zoran Gavrilović for "Vreme".

Presentation of the comprehensive development plan of Serbia, which President Aleksandar Vučić named "Serbia 2027 - a leap into the future", was broadcast live by 41 television channels that can be watched in Telekom's cable offer, the Bureau of Social Research (BIRODI) counted.

They specify that those televisions occupy fifty channels and that this count refers to what was available to viewers in Belgrade.

"This is empirical evidence that economically unsustainable media and journalists who are not ready to respect the professional code are an important pillar of the current government because they have been turned into means of propaganda, i.e. propagandists," Zoran Gavrilović, executive director of BIRODI, told Vreme.

"Manufacturing Optimism"

During the multimedia performance, accompanied by the outgoing Prime Minister and some ministers, Vučić listed figures, completed and planned projects, listed successes that, as he announced, will culminate in 2027 when the Expo exhibition takes place.

"A media barbell has been established over Serbia, which has the task of producing optimism among SNS voters, because they are the least satisfied with their material position compared to abstainers and opposition voters," explains Gavrilović.

"This event served to inject optimism," he concludes.

Who was transmitting everything?

As he enumerates, the performance was broadcast live by the public services RTS 1 and RTV 1, then televisions with national coverage Pink, Prva and Happy.

This was followed by a series of cable and local television stations, some of which are from neighboring countries: K1, Vesti, Euronews, Tanjug, Blic, Studio B, Informer, TV Palma plus, RAS, TV BN, TV BN 2, Koreni, TV Most, TV Pancevo, Dunav TV, Hype, Pink plus, TV Prva Cg, TV Melos, TV KCN 1, TV Super sat, TV Info 24, TV Plana, TV Apatin, Novi Sad TV, TV 9, TV Lav, RTK, TV AS, TV GM Plus, Info 24 plus, TV Lav plus, Hype 2, Belle ami, Bosphorus and RTV Vranje.

"To make everything sadder," concludes Gavrilović, "there was a violation of the Constitution of Serbia because the president was doing what is the government's job." All this raises the question of the violation of media pluralism, the (non)existence of which, according to the Law, should be determined by REM", .
