The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said last night that the initiators of the Resolution on the Srebrenica genocide in the United Nations General Assembly will "formally win", but that "every citizen of Serbia, regardless of nationality, will feel proud".
"Our opponents in that matter are not in the region, they are Berlin, Washington and London," Vučić said in a guest appearance on the Radio-Television of Serbia program. He pointed out that Hungary will surely vote against, that he is sure that Slovakia will not vote for, and neither will Cyprus, and that he hopes that "his personal friends" from the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain will also not vote for the resolution.
"I am almost certain that our Chinese friends will be against the resolution." Chinese President Xi (Jinping) told me how disgusting everything they are doing against Serbia is to him, he is a fantastically responsible man and I saw how much what they are doing against Serbia bothers him," said Vučić.
Anti-Serbian resolution
According to his words, the ultimate goals of the Resolution on Srebrenica are the abolition of Republika Srpska, the revision of the verdict for the responsibility of Serbia and the request for war reparations from Serbia.
"As far as we are concerned, we do not have a problem with the existence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we have never had one and we have always adhered to the Dayton Peace Agreement, but of course, the Republika Srpska must also exist in accordance with that agreement," said Vučić.
He also said that Serbia will always pay respect to the Bosniak victims and offer condolences to the families, but that Serbia should not be expected to accept the "voluntary trampling of its own people", and that in Berlin and Washington "they are lying that the resolution is about individual responsibility". , but that they want to blame the entire Serbian people.
"We will not get justice from them, we will fight for justice ourselves," said the President of Serbia. And for that it is of crucial importance that Serbia maintains good relations with its friends in Asia, Africa and the Caribbean countries.
"My political instinct is such that I know that the resolution on Srebrenica is terribly important, perhaps more important than anything else, because I know what serious consequences it will have for future generations if they see how easy it was for them, as they imagined it would be for them," Vucic said.
The resolution on Srebrenica is not directed against Serbia
The American Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, Elizabeth Allen, said, on the other hand, that the United Nations resolution on Srebrenica is not directed against Serbia, but is actually a resolution about commemorating the victims, marking the crimes, about the real memory of the victims.
"This is not about Serbia or the Serbian people or attributing any collective guilt to someone," Elizabeth Allen said in an interview with Radio-Television of Serbia.
She pointed out that the stability of the Western Balkan region is something that the USA has been working on with its partners for a long time and continues to work on.
