President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić announced today that it is a "great honor" for Serbia that he attends the commemoration of the anniversary of the fall of the Bastille, a national holiday France.
On Instagram, he published a photo from the ceremony, wrote that "at this level" Serbia was invited to attend the celebration for the first time and thanked the President of France Emmanuel Macron "who with this invitation once again confirmed his personal friendship and great respect for Serbia".
In addition to Vučić, the parade was attended by numerous other leaders and high-ranking officials, but he was the only representative of a country that is not a member of the European Union, NATO or the Coalition of the Willing.
There is no doubt that the invitation he received is a sign of political support for Macron, who apparently does not mind the results of the European Parliament on the state of civil and media freedoms, democracy and justice in Serbia, which is contrary to everything that the "Fall of the Bastille" represents.
Regime tabloids in that context, the most interesting part of the event was who was sitting where and what the "blockaders" would think about it.
Counting chairs and rows
"Croats are bursting with anguish: They cannot bear the honor shown to Vučić and Serbia in Paris" is the title of "Informer's" text about this event.
There are also: "Vučić in the first row, and here are Plenković and Rama sitting!", "Croats are furious! Alliance with France is a finger in the eye of the neighbors".
However, in that counting of chairs and rows, the fact that the neighboring special forces were given the opportunity to march in this parade was omitted. Serbia had no marching soldiers.
"Blockaders won't like this! One photo from Paris shuts the mouths of all Vučić haters", is another of the headlines under which it is written about "citizens on social networks who enthusiastically comment on this historic move".

Little space is devoted to the event itself and its significance for France and the rest of Europe.

Answering a journalist's question about allegations in the media that he was not in the photo of all the officials who were in Paris last night and that he was allegedly isolated, Vučić pointed out that he did not attend the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris because he did not accept that Serbia should be part of that coalition.
"I want to preserve peace in Serbia, I want to preserve stability. Sometimes it's not easy, sometimes everyone looks at you like the thirteenth pig, sometimes you feel very bad. And you have to endure all that and you have to know why you are suffering, and you do it for your Serbia, because there is nothing more important in the world than Serbia," said Vučić.
This year, the parade was held under the official theme "Strategic Rearmament of France and Strategic Awakening of Europe", and its aim was to show the renewed strength of the European coalition against Russia.
French Republic Day is celebrated to commemorate the beginning of the French Revolution and the fall of the Bastille on July 14, 1789. After these events, on August 26, 1789, the Declaration on Human and Civil Rights was adopted.
