The opposition parties that will appear on a list called "Serbia against violence" on Wednesday evening agreed that the joint candidate for the mayor of Belgrade will be professor of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences Dr. Vladimir Obradović.
As the "Vremena" portal learns, the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP) of Dragan Đilas insisted that the candidate for mayor of the capital be from its ranks, even though the Green-Left Front has a better rating in Belgrade, and its leader Dobrica Veselinović stands better according to popularity measurements. from other candidates. In order to facilitate the agreement, ZLF withdrew Veselinović's candidacy.
Referring to its sources, the portal Nova S writes that in the end it was agreed that there would be two holders of the list - the first will be Veselinović, and the second Obradović. ZLF will have the most mandates in the Assembly of Belgrade.
Vladimir Obradović is a member of parliament in the current convocation and is a member of the "Direction of Europe" parliamentary group. He entered the parliament on the proposal of the SSP.
Obradović is a professor at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences at the Department for Interdisciplinary Research in Management, and in the previous Belgrade elections he was a member of the team of the then mayoral candidate Vladeta Janković (United for the Victory of Belgrade). He is the first FON professor who spoke three years ago about the plagiarized doctorate of Finance Minister Sinisa Malog, as well as the role of this higher education institution in the whole affair.
He is in interview for "Vreme" in 2022. said that because of the plagiarized doctorate, Malog went through the arduous process of being a full professor, even though he significantly exceeded the prescribed requirements. He also reminded that the Cabinet of the Prime Minister officially rejected him as a candidate for a member of the Council for the fight against corruption, with the explanation that, like some other proposed candidates, he "criticizes the government".
"I could no longer sit and watch Serbia go downhill at an unstoppable speed." To the abyss. It is not the job of a university professor to sit, watch and cringe. I believe that my social role goes beyond lecturing and questioning students. I also believe that we professors must stand at the head of reform initiatives and encourage changes," said Obradović at the time.
He also emphasized that SNS and SPS do not have the majority support of the citizens of Belgrade. "Those two parties together, according to the official results, have about 45 percent of the votes, while the other parties, which now form the opposition, have about 55 percent with the parties that did not pass the census," he said.
He said about Aleksandar Šapić that he was one of the worst personnel solutions for the first man of Belgrade since he can remember.
"The man is a top athlete and a great champion, many times I sincerely rejoiced at his goals. However, managing the largest city in Serbia requires a completely different set of competencies, which, I'm afraid, he does not possess," Obradović said.
On whether the opposition should act unitedly, Obradović said:
"I think people should rally around ideas, not around leaders." When we all change that, we will progress faster as a society. I believe that the opposition, despite certain mutual disagreements and frictions, as you say, as long as they share the same ideas, and that is primarily the replacement of this illegitimate government, will act unitedly to the greatest extent. "
Vladimir Obradović He was born in 1977.
