Members of the Department for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs quickly and efficiently localized the fire that broke out this morning around 9.00:100 a.m. in the town of Kostol near Kladovo and engulfed more than XNUMX hectares of grass and low vegetation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced today, stressing that there were no injuries or casualties in the fire, and ten houses were defended.
More than 50 firefighters-rescuers, two helicopters of the Helicopter Unit of the Ministry, members of voluntary firefighting societies and public companies, as well as firefighters of the "Đerdap" hydropower plant, were engaged in extinguishing the fire.
Firefighters-rescuers are still on the ground and are working to put out the fire, according to MU.
Fire emergency
In shutdown fire that broke out in Kostol, three helicopters, 50 firefighters-rescuers, and local residents participated.
Due to the fire, a state of emergency was introduced in this municipality.
The head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Luka Čaušić, told RTS that the fire that broke out this morning in Kostol near Kladova quickly spread that they were "close to getting the fire under control."
As he stated, several tens of houses were threatened, an auxiliary building that was abandoned was damaged, and the citizens were out of danger. Namely, Kladovo was not in danger of fire.
"Members of the Sector, in cooperation with the Helicopter Unit of the Ministry of Interior, voluntary fire brigades, industrial units and local governments, are maximally engaged and manage to put out all the fires in record time," said Čaušić.
The fire could be brought under control if weather conditions, such as strong winds that could spread it, do not interfere.
The President of the Municipality of Kladovo, Saša Nikolić, appealed to citizens not to light fires in open spaces.
