As soon as the students announced the official end of the student protest in Slavia, the first riots began clashes between citizens and the Gendarmerie in several locations.
The first tear gas was thrown in the center of Belgrade since the beginning of the student demonstrations, the media reports.
Demonstrators headed towards the Gendarmerie at the corner of Bulevar Kralja Aleksandar at the intersection with Takovska, and torches, glass and firecrackers flew.
"Put down the shields," the citizens shout to the Gendarmerie.
As N1 reports, the people who attacked the gendarmes were wearing masks. Two young men were arrested, this media reports.
And in Kneza Miloša Street, there was an intervention by the Police Brigade near the Turkish Embassy, reports N1. At one point, the police started suppressing the citizens.
As reported by the N1 reporter, the citizens wanted to let one of the ambulances through, but the Police Brigade did not want to let them through because they were afraid that people could also pass into the area they were defending.
