Six months after police violence over citizens Valjeva, a new one will be held in that city protest rally. The gathering starts at 4:30 p.m. in front of the Valjevska Gymnasium, from where the column will head towards the police building, and then to the court building.
"Six months since the blackest night in the history of the city", stated the Valjevo students in the call to the protest scheduled for February 14.
Students from Obrenovac also come to the rally in Valjevo on foot, as part of the so-called "Kolubara march". This is the first organized student one a walk after November 1, 2025, when convoys from different parts of Serbia walked to Novi Sad to mark the anniversary of the accident at the Railway Station, in which 16 people died.
"Valjevo is calling, Srem answered," said students from several towns in Srem. It was announced that the trucking company "Jaćimović" will organize transportation for the protest participants from Stara Pazova, Inđija, Ruma, Sremska Mitrovica and Šabac.
Milomir Jaćimović because of the earlier transport of students, the buses were confiscated, and he went on a hunger strike in November because of this.
What happened in August 2025
The riots started when, according to eyewitnesses, masked hooligans demolished the window of the "Korner" cafe in the center of Valjevo during the night. A day later, in the middle of the day, the window of the cafe "Romana" was broken, and several people were injured on that occasion.
Because of those events, as well as massive police actions in other places in Serbia, a protest was held in Valjevo on August 14. According to the locals, the police reaction to the demonstrators at the rally was extremely violent and, as they claim, unprecedented in the history of the city.
It is stated that the police used force against a large number of citizens, and people who did not resist. According to testimonies, some citizens were pulled out of the taxi-vehicle and beaten, and a fifteen-year-old boy was among the injured.
According to reports, the police had reinforcements from Užice, Priboj and Prijepolje. During the intervention, means of coercion were used, the so-called "cannon attack" and tear gas cartridges. After the cordon moved towards the crowd, some of the protestors responded by throwing stones, to which the police responded with additional use of force.
According to unofficial information, several dozen people were detained, while official data indicated a much smaller number.
