Prime Minister Đuro Macut he held a meeting with the rector of the University of Belgrade Vladan Đokić in the Serbian Government building.
After the meeting, there were no statements to the media, and the rector's office of the University of Belgrade later announced that the rector and the prime minister discussed the situation at universities and faculties and possible ways to overcome the crisis.
At the invitation of the prime minister, a meeting was held in the Government of Serbia attended by representatives of the majority of state universities in Serbia, the University of Belgrade announced, reports FoNet.
The University of Belgrade was represented by Rector Đokić, Vice-Rector for Education Dejan Filipović, Dean of the Faculty of Law Bojan Milisavljević, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Tatjana Simić, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry Goran Roglić and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Vladimir Lojanica, according to the announcement.
On Tuesday (April 29), the rector of BU accepted the Prime Minister's invitation to continue discussions on solving problems in higher education.
Prime Minister Macut agreed to the condition that Rector Vladan Đokić set for holding today's meeting, which is that he be accompanied by five other representatives of the University - the vice-rector and four deans, representatives of all faculty groups - medical, social-humanistic, natural-mathematical and technical-technological.
The meeting went "relatively" well
One of the participants of the meeting, the dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Goran Roglić, told FoNet that he did not want to comment on the discussions and that an official announcement was expected.
When asked by a journalist whether the meeting went well, Roglić, as reported by N1, answered only "relatively" right after leaving the meeting in the Government.
Đokić previously announced that at the meeting he will present the document Platform of the University of Belgrade for discussion with representatives of competent authorities and institutions as a starting point for dialogue.
"I hope that the announced dialogue will be a step forward in the direction of solving the accumulated, multi-decade problems in higher education and will contribute to the necessary change in the work atmosphere and the calming of tensions between all social factors," Đokić stated in a written statement.
Let us remind you that the rector and the prime minister met initially met on April 22nd, and then Miloš Pavlović submitted criminal complaint against Rector Đokić, which is why the rector canceled the next meeting that was supposed to be held on April 23.
Macut then said that it was "unacceptable" and "non-academic", and then Đokić sent the rector a new invitation to continue the dialogue.
A few days before the meeting, Đokić was questioned at the police station in New Belgrade.
