The Union of Education Workers Union of Serbia announced today that it has asked the Government of Serbia and the Ministry of Education to urgently start negotiations on salary correction for employees in education, through an increase in the price of labor and a correction of the coefficient.
The union estimated that the 5,5 percent wage increase for September was insufficiently announced, because consumer prices in May this year, compared to the same month last year, increased by 14,8 percent.
The material status of employees in education has been seriously damaged and the proposed salary increase is nowhere close to improving the situation, the Union of Education Workers' Union stated. The Union also requests payment of engagement and travel expenses for members in the working subgroups at the school administrations and the Central Working Group at the Ministry of Education, as well as the payment of the remaining debt of 50.000 dinars for the seven Svetosava/New Year's awards and for the savings achieved by deploying over 35.000 people, who were technological excess.
