After the former general director of EPS, Milorad Grcic, the controversial businessman Aleksandar Papić was arrested, who is suspected of being the owner of a company that received rigged tenders.
Controversial businessman Aleksandar Papić was arrested in a police operation, the Nova.rs portal announced.
The large action of the police in cooperation with the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office continues, and in addition to Grčić and Papić, nine other people were arrested.
At the moment, it is not known who is among those arrested, but more information will be known soon.
Who is Aleksandar Papić?
Papić is also known to the general public as the godfather and former close associate of the then Minister of Defense and Police, Nebojša Stefanović.
He was a co-owner of the tabloid "Ojektiv", and the media called him a controversial businessman.
Papić found himself in the public spotlight when, at the meeting of the councilors of the Serbian Progressive Party of Zvezdara municipality, in 2021, to everyone's surprise, he voted for the dismissal of Stefanović.
The then Minister Stefanović said at a conference a few months later that Aleksandar Papić is a man who tries to be close to him in order to achieve his goals.
Namely, Papić accused Nebojša from Belgrade of classifying him, Papić, as an associate of Veljko Belivuk, because through his lawyer he sent a request for the eviction of members of Stefanović's immediate family "who are staying completely illegally" in the house owned by him. "Just one day after sending the request (on September 29, 2021), Nebojša Stefanović misused the resources of the Ministry of Defense and launched a brutal campaign against me through his associates," Papić said.
