The United Novi Sad opposition "United for a Free Novi Sad", which consists of 12 parties and movements, today accused the activists of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) of "attacking the opposition activists with knives" and destroying their advertising balloon.
The coalition announced that eight hooligans participated in the attack who "took out knives and roughly pushed two activists away, holding them, while the others pierced the balloon with knives."
In the statement, they also state that the attackers fled in two black cars with tinted windows. Activist Miran Pogačar tells "Vreme" that, being on the spot, he managed to film the entire incident and the activists leaving, as well as their license plates.
"They are standard characters in a standard story." This incident is another way in which they imagine politics to be conducted, while we try to propose concrete solutions and to approach politics in a decent and nice way, until then, they deal with physical force and send beaters. This is the second such attack. I filmed them, I also filmed them leaving and recorded the license plates, so that the perpetrators will be found. I assume that these are persons who are already known to the police," points out Pogačar.
Second attack in two days
The case was reported to the police and a criminal complaint was filed for violent behavior and destruction of other people's property of greater value.
"I think the reaction of the authorities is precisely that they sent these thugs." There is obviously a huge fear and willingness to do everything to keep Novi Sad in their hands. Novi Sad is ready to be the first free city in Serbia and I think that all eyes are on Novi Sad. We will fight for every vote these days and on the election day itself to prevent election theft and all the tricks that will surely happen," emphasizes Pogačar and concludes that "the most important thing is for people to go to the polls on Sunday."
This is the second time that unknown perpetrators have destroyed the advertising balloon of the opposition coalition. The first balloon that was placed near TC Promenade was destroyed on Thursday.
The members of the ruling coalition in Novi Sad have not announced anything about this incident.
