The blockade will last until midnight, after which the gathered will join the protest of the ProGlas initiative, which is scheduled for Saturday at noon at the Terazije fountain.
Students gathered around the "Fight" initiative began a twenty-four-hour blockade of the intersection of Birčaninova and Kneza Miloša streets just before 13 p.m., in order to put pressure on the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government, from which they are demanding the opening of voter lists.
They first gathered in front of the Ministry. As reported by the "Vremena" reporter, the organizers brought camping equipment and a loudspeaker to the street.
"We first gathered in Birčaninova in front of the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government. This is the address to which we send the request. We want to remind them again that it is very important for them to open the voter lists, to show us where these phantom voters are and if there are any. They claim that there are none and that anyone can access it, but the problem with this public view is that everyone can see it for themselves. That is, it is necessary for me to know someone's identity number in order to see if that person is or is not on the voter list. So the answer is absolutely incomplete and we are sending them a new request," says Milica Kostin for "Vreme".
After the gathering in front of the Ministry, the blockade of the intersection began.
"Many activities are planned during the day. We have the greening of Serbia, we will also have a stand-up evening, there will be DJs," announced Kostin.
Emilija Milenkoivć says that they receive calls from other cities as well.
"People contact us from smaller towns and say they want to organize." On the other hand, I would invite people to live a normal life for the holidays as much as possible in this country. This year was really a sad and disastrous year for our society, and I think that we all need to rest a little, to be with our families. The fight certainly continues. We must never forget why we are on the street. After the holidays, we will go even harder," says Milenkovic for "Vreme".
"Since we don't have a public service to explain to people what is happening, we will have to do it on the street," said one of the activists and student Ivan Bjelic.
As announced, the blockade will last until midnight, after which the gathered will join the protest of the ProGlas initiative, which is scheduled for Saturday at noon at the Terazije fountain.
