A few hours after a car ran over a law student during a protest in Roosevelt Street and seriously injured her, thousands of students gathered at the intersection near the Faculty of Law.
The action was organized urgently, after it was in Rooseveltova street during the protest a car ran over a female student of Law and inflicted serious physical injuries on her - Students from all faculties were invited to share the information via social networks that the gathering is in front of Law.
Along with the banners with the symbolic features of each faculty, there are also messages such as "The mental state of society is a mirror of the system" and "You will not trample on us". A large number of citizens also came to support this spontaneous action.
With this protest, the students want to show that no one responsible for the attacks on students will go unpunished, and they will present a joint plan for how the blockades will look in the future.
It was announced through the megaphone that it was decided to go to the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office at 15 pm and continue the protest there.
"We still have time until then to gather as many as possible and send them as strong a message as possible," said the guards.
A drop that overflowed the glass
Faculty of Law student Sofija Ivanović tells "Vreme" that today's attack is "the last straw" and that it is quite clear that the rebellious students are being repressed.
Still, he says, that won't stop them.
"At this moment, we must all be together and make it clear to the authorities that, no matter how much they try to break the blockades, they will not succeed. They can only do that if they fulfill the demands, and not by violence. I believe that the further actions of the students will adequately respond to these attacks", says our interlocutor.
Driver detained
The police have identified and found the driver suspected of running over a female student who was participating in the campaign to deliver mail to victims of the falling canopy in Novi Sad.
Police officers of the Police Department for the city of Belgrade identified and found the driver of the MP (37) who, as is suspected, hit a XNUMX-year-old girl on the corner with a "Ford Focus Caravan" at around noon today. Roosevelt and Queen Mary streets, according to the Ministry of Interior's announcement.
It is suspected that there were two other people in the vehicle, one of whom is a minor.
The suspect is charged with the crime of aggravated attempted murder.
He was detained for up to 48 hours, during which time he will be questioned at the High Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade.
The female student was injured, in a conscious state
After the attack, the emergency team transported the student to the emergency center.
"The patient was admitted in a conscious state. She is communicative and in a stable general condition. "Due to the injuries sustained, additional diagnostics are in progress," announced the Clinical Center of Serbia.
