Students of the Faculty of Technical Sciences (FTN) in Čačak announced on their Instagram profile that they were attacked on Saturday evening (March 22), and that the police cut off their connection when they called for help.
As stated on the Instagram profile "blokada.ftncacak", the students were attacked from behind on Saturday evening by a group of boys.
They added that they were injured and that the police refused to help them when they called on the phone.
"The question remains whether the police will still disconnect students who are seeking help or will act in accordance with the law. We do not feel safe, our students have experienced physical injuries in the form of cut lips, knee injuries, etc.," according to a post on their Instagram account.
The students called on the competent institutions to react.
MUP: Police reacted immediately
The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that members of the police in Čačak are working to clarify all the facts and circumstances, as well as to identify all the actors in tonight's event on the City Square in Čačak.
"Immediately after a report by an unidentified person, at 01.36:28 tonight, that there was a fight between several people on the City Square, the police went to the scene where they found two injured people, aged 29 and XNUMX, who were treated at the Čačan hospital for medical assistance and they were diagnosed with minor injuries," the MUP said in a statement.
They add that two more people, aged 23 and 21, came to the hospital in Čačak, and were instructed to come to the police with an injury list to file a report.
"Regarding the allegations in some media that the police refused to provide help after the report, we emphasize that the police immediately went to the scene after the report of an unknown person and that the claims made in some media are absolutely incorrect, that the members of the Police Department in Čačak cut off the phone connection when reporting by phone. There is evidence of all of the above, bearing in mind that all calls to 192 are recorded," the MUP announced.
The students called for a protest, which will take place tonight at 20 pm in front of the police headquarters in that city.
