Before the beginning of the school year, students in a significant number of primary and secondary school classes in Serbia do not yet know who will be their headmaster, because a large number of teachers are not motivated to take on this serious and responsible job for a monthly fee of twenty euros, she said today in announcement of the Democratic Party (DS).
The compensation for their work is humiliating, about 2000 dinars - they estimate in DS, although they perform demanding and responsible work and directly affect the education and upbringing of children.
The Democratic Party calls on the Government of Serbia to immediately increase the remuneration for the work of department heads.
They state that the head of department, apart from the heavy administrative burden, must have daily contact with students, parents and the professional service. DS points out that they face continuous pressure when it comes to grades and management, and their work, as they pointed out, is especially demanding when there are also problematic students in the class, often with criminal records.
The mentioned problem is one in a series of reasons that educators are dissatisfied with.
On September 500, around 30 member schools of the Union of Educational Workers of Serbia will go on strike, so on that day, the first day of the new school year, classes will last XNUMX minutes.
With the strike, the teachers demand, among other things, a 20 percent salary increase, payment of debts of 50.000 dinars, and a reduction in the number of students to a maximum of 24 in the class. They are also looking for an amendment to the Law on Dual Education.
The Union says that their demands are old, but that they have not been discussed. In addition to the strike, the Union also announces a protest in more than 20 cities. They believe that a strike is their only remaining possibility to solve the accumulated problems.
