The majority of members of the Independent Union of Educational Workers of Vojvodina (NSPRV) will stop work on December 1. as a sign of protest and support for all victims of school violence which was organized by the Union of Education Workers of Serbia (USPRS).
However, the principals of some schools did not like it.
"There is almost no region where our union has membership, and today there were no terrible and shameful pressures," NSPRV announced this evening.
Dušan Kokot, president of NSPRV states that "in one school, the director refused to accept the decision of employees, members of the trade union, to stop work, considering that decision as a pamphlet that does not bind him in any way." He refuses to even inform his parents about the said decision. In the second, the director openly threatens temporary employees with dismissal if they stand shoulder to shoulder with their colleagues. In the third, they even dare to try to negotiate the decision, that is, whether it could be "corrected a little".
Kokot says that NSPRV will file criminal charges against such directors "for violating the rights defined by the Constitution and laws", as well as that it will provide legal assistance to those directors who are under pressure from the institutions.
The members of this union will be at their workplaces on December 1st, but they will not hold classes, but will discuss how to prevent violence in schools.
"Why has violence become our daily routine, and where will all this lead us," asks Kokot.
The Union of Education Workers Union of Serbia has announced a strike and protest in 47 cities of Serbia. the strike demand is also urgent, and by mid-December at the latest, the start of negotiations on the status of an official for all employees in education.
