The Socialist Party of Serbia suspended it Branko Ruzic, vice-president of that party and member of the Executive Board, for six months from all positions in the party, the media reports.
Ružić was suspended in accordance with Article 5 of the party's statute, which stipulates that a party member whose opinion has been over-voted by the party's organs cannot propagate that opinion in public as the party's official position, and also cannot publicly argue about the decisions of the party's organs of which they are members, the media write.
Therefore, Ružić will not be a candidate for any position within the Government of Serbia. This decision of the SPS Statutory Commission followed Ružić's public appearances.
Ruzic on March 15th joined a large student protest in Belgrade.
"I admire the students"
He is in an interview for "Vreme" said that everyone has their own way of dealing with politics, "mine is like this. I do not dispute that others fight for the political goals of the party they belong to in other ways."
He added that he admires the students, their lucidity and anticipation of things that could happen - like March 15.
"At that time, they warned against an excessive escalation, which was possible because some others wanted it. But the energy of the students should be articulated into political outlines. This is a popular rebellion, but if you want to change something in the institutions, then you have to do it in an institutional way," said Ružić.
When asked by a journalist what he thinks when Vučić says that this is a protest of the "rich", Ružić replied that if he is not mistaken, the President of the Republic said that there are many millionaires in his party.
"Then I don't know what it would mean if this is a rebellion of the rich. I can't treat students like tycoons and rich people, that would be ridiculous. On the street on March 15, I met family people who were walking normally with their children, with smiles on their faces, young people hugging each other. I don't recognize that protest of the rich. On the other hand, it is not forbidden to be rich if you earned money honestly," he said.
And concluded that in fact self-aware people feel what is not good in society. "And now the situation is really not phenomenal or maybe I just don't have rose colored glasses."
