Students call all of Serbia to Kosjerić
The students invited all of Serbia to protest in Kosjerić, after the objections of the opposition due to irregularities in the elections in both Kosjerić and Zaječar were rejected.
The academic network "Slobodan University" in Niš appealed to members of the academic community to refrain from making decisions about the start of classes in the current phase of negotiations with the newly formed Government of Serbia.
Certain faculties in Niš convened scientific-teaching councils to decide on starting classes, and the academic network "Slobodan University" in Niš urges them not to do that.
The Free University stated in a statement that faculties should not make decisions that threaten the negotiating position of university representatives, especially those that are implemented outside of the agreed position with student plenums.
"Members of the collective bodies are especially urged not to take initiatives or pass acts that could undermine the unity of the academic community until the negotiations are concluded. Coordinated action is a prerequisite for achieving a solution that will simultaneously affirm the principles of academic autonomy and ensure the sustainable material security of the faculty," the "Free University" announced.
If the academic community acts together, solutions can be expected that protect the interest of the academic community as a whole, as well as the individual interest of each member of the University of Nis, said the "Free University".
