Students will walk 340 kilometers in 16 days for 16 victims of the falling canopy Novi Pazara. They set off on Thursday, October 16, to arrive in Novi Sad on marking one year since the accident.
"The departure is immediately after holding a sixteen-minute silence in front of our university, where we will see off those brave people who will walk on behalf of all of us," said DUNP students.
They added that along with the DUNP students, there will also be citizens who have supported them from day one:
"What our fellow citizens do for us is really great and we thank them for that. They defended us and demanded justice when masked men threw us out of the college, and the police guarded the entrance to the institution. The residents of Novopazar even clashed with the police at one point. So, we will all see them off together as befits and wish them luck that their health will serve them in the long journey, considering that the coming days will be colder."
16-day plan
The walking plan from Novi Pazar was made so that the students will arrive in Novi Sad the day before the commemorative gathering, on October 31. There are seven pedestrians, and they will have a car escort and police security all the time.
Pedestrians will be joined by other groups of colleagues.
