The book fair was a success, 190.000 people visited it, and next October it will be in Hall 1 again. Where it will be in 2027 has not been announced.

The 66th International Belgrade Book Fair ended tonight. At the press conference held on that occasion, the director of the Belgrade Fair, Danka Selić, stated that the event will be organized in the same place next year as well. She did not mention where she will be in 2027.

Danka Selić estimated that the 66th Book Fair was successful and that more than 190.000 people visited it.

She said that the Book Fair lasted nine days, that 420 exhibitors presented themselves, 356 domestic and 64 from abroad, that it was held on 30.000 square meters with 546 programs, which was followed by 1.200 journalists from 16 countries.

City Secretary for Culture Nataša Mihailović Vacić stated that the Book Fair was the epicenter of cultural exchange and that France, as the guest of honor, presented cultural ties with Serbia.

"We are happy to receive the information that next year the Fair will be held under the dome of the Belgrade Fair," Mihailović Vacić said.

The President of the Board of the International Belgrade Book Fair, Dušan Kovačević, pointed out that this year the Fair was extremely well attended and that he was impressed by the visit of young people.

"It restores hope that not all children are tied to phones only, there are also those who love books, which confirms our catchphrase "Long live books, they will live for sure," said Kovačević. He added that he believed that because of the corona virus, many people wanted books, but also that books are a bright spot in this time of terrible events in the world.

Kovačević said that he believed that about 50 percent of books were written about the war, that they were written between wars, but that they did not teach anyone wisdom. "We hope to see each other next year in peace," Kovačević said.

French Ambassador Pierre Cauchard emphasized that it was an honor that France was the guest of honor at the Book Fair, 19 years after the previous time, when it had that role.

"That space for dialogue between cultures is irreplaceable," Koshar said.

He pointed out that all the invited writers happily agreed to be part of the delegation. "They were able to talk to their Serbian audience, which made it possible to strengthen French-Serbian ties," Košar said.
